Questions about The Yeti

I have some questions about EE's Yeti that have been disscussed on this site.
1. How Big is the Yeti?
2. Does the Yeti smell?
3.How fast does the yeti move.... comparitively to AAs?

thanks for any info y'all have.

I think they were asking because a while back Jim Hill mentioned that they were working on a scent for the yeti.

1- I believe the Yeti is 18 feet tall. From the floor to what point I do not know.

2- I can't tell you if the Yeti has a scent, as i haven't ridden yet. I heard he was supposed to, but I don't know if that fell through or not (I don't see why it would).

3- I hear the yeti moves pretty fast, but again, I haven't ridden, so i cant really give a comparison. I hear he's amazing though.

Smell? Good question. If the Imagineers wanted to make it authentic then there should be a smell. Numberous documented encounters with the Yeti, Bigfoot and the Sasquatch over the years have always included descriptions of a very pungent smell as well as a high pitch squeel. Have they left out these details to make it a more enjoyable attraction?

- It looks a lot bigger than 18 feet!
- Didn't smell anything, you go by it so fast
-It moves very well for something so big! In my opinion

My video next weekend should be able to display more of the yeti movement!

Rode it 7 times yesterday and going back right now...

How big- I would say about 10-15 feet, but you really cant tell because when you finally physically see it, it looks like its 40 feet above you and the track goes right up towards it in a rush

Smell- didn't smell a thing aside from the water and mist and the fear from the kid sitting in the car ahead of me

How Fast- See the "how big" up top, when you get right below him the ride peaks then drops and you plunge back into darkness. but I have a picture of it stretching / leaning off a ledge to grab you as he holds a twisted piece of railroad track in his left hand, and the wind blowing makes his hair wisp as his right arm and claw swing down as if he is grabbing you. Looks very scary / soooo cool when riding-:eek: the picture I have of it makes him look a bit different- almost cute.... I ruined my own magic taking it-:brick:

Very cool- worth the wait (years) Haunted Mansion will always be my favorite ride, but I think that this ride has done a lot of damage and got right up there at number 2 on my fav's list.

To all involved- Amazing Job, a job well done... I'm on my way out the door now for ride day number 2...

Something i have been wondering lately..having seen a lot of photos of the Yeti here, is this:

Why is the Yeti shown as having white fur on all the merchandise? I mean, even the plush dolls being sold now have him with white fur. He looks more like The Bumble from "Rudolph" then the Disney Yeti! :lol:

Just curious as to why they made this change...usually Disney does a pretty decent job of translating there characters but this one puzzles me a little.

1. The Yeti is big but not as big as I expected. This is partly though because you start off far away from him and he looks small. As you get closer he becomes bigger, but there is only about 1 second where you can appreciate how big he his and at that moment you are looking away from him hiding your head because he looks like he is going to hit you.

2. I couldn't smell anything.

3. The Yeti moves extremely fast in my opinion. (Well at least his arms do) This part is very impressive. I was expecting a much slower Yeti. For a comparison move your hand in front of your face as if you were swatting a fly and that is how fast the Yeti moves. Very Fast.

After riding it 5 times today, all I can say that the Yeti is amazing.

1- He is huge, as others have said probobly about 15-18 ft tall.

2-No idea, traveling too fast to really get a good wiff.

3-As said before, you'll never see anything that big move so fast.

I'll have a review up either tonight or tomorrow.

the only reason i feel the yetti merchandise is white is because it probably wouldn't sell if it was brown . people wouldn't know what it was. Yettis are in american culture seen as white.

Thank you so much for asking this. I was wondering the same thing myself, I just didn't know where to post the question and didn't want to start a new thread. I finally decided that cute and cuddly sells better than brown and smelly.

Ooh, I can't wait to buy a big stuffed, pungent smelling? Yeti Monster in the gift shop at the end of the ride. :hammer: I personally think the pungent B.O. smell would be a flop, as I am sure there will be enough pungent BO in the queue in the summer anyway. :lol:

Yeah...i suppose the Yeti is more visually appealing sitting on a gift shop shelf sporting white fur instead of his actual hue.

I just can't help chuckling to myself when i see the dolls though...they look like a miffed Bumble! :lol:

Why? Because Disney can just make a bunch of the same plush and sell it on both coast. One for the Matterhorn and one for Everest.

It's a cost cutting measure...
