A prime number is a number that cannot be achieved by multiplying 2 other numbers together. (say 24...24 is NOT a prime number...but IT'S prime numbers are...(1, 2, 3) (1x24=24, 2x12=24, 3x8=24) (yes, 4x6=24 but 4 is not a prime number because 2x2=4 (therefore...2 is the prime of 4) and... (2x3=6...so...2 & 3 are the primes of 6) (which is also the reason that 8, 12, & 24 are not primes of 24)

(That's what I BELIEVE is the definition of a "PRIME" number)
(and to tell you the truth...I believe it must be greater than 1...so 1 would not be a prime number)
(for example...1, 2, 3, 5) (not 4 because 2 x 2 = 4)

also...after I read this...I did a little figuring out...here are the prime numbers up to 100...(well, 97)

2,3,5,7,11,13,17,19,23,29,31,37,41,43,47,53,59,61,67,71,73,79, 83,89,97

(hey whattaya know...the WDWFreak is a prime number :hammer: :lol: )

lol it simply means not capable of being divided by any number except itself or 1:as,7 and 23 are prime numbers!:D
Nothing you can multiply can make 7 or 23 other then 1x23 or 7x1.

(quick ways to tell..."2" is the only even prime number...so...if it's even and not 2...it's not prime...next...any ending in "5" (other than 5 itself) is not prime... so that leaves numbers ending in 1, 3, 7, & 9

A prime number is a whole number that is only divisable by itself and 1... so 2, 3, 5, 7... they aren't divisable by any other number other than itself and 1. Hope that helps

I too knew what a Prime Number was until I read Freak's posts. :lol: :lol: :lol:


If 2x2 = 4 and vice versa and then 4/1 = 4 then you can conclude that 4 and 2 and their Prime #'s of which they are derived have to be............... :hammer:

It's exactly what some others said: Any number that can only be divided by 1 and itself.

Not sure if 1 is valid or not. :brick:
