Question about the refillable mugs

I know there have been harsher restrictions regarding these over the years, but are you able to refill your mugs free of charge at other resorts? My family and I are staying at the Boardwalk this summer, but our concern is that the place to refill your mug closes a bit early (11pm I believe). However, the foodcourt in the Dolphin is 24 hours (I believe they have a refillable mug station correct?), would we be allowed to fill ours there?

Thanks!

Hopefully this doesn't become a debate on mug usage...

The rule is that the mug is only good during the length of your stay and at the resort you purchased it at. However, since the mugs are all the same now at each resort no one would know one way or another. However, the Swan and Dolphin are not Disney resorts and you won't be able to fill a Disney mug there. The Bellevue Lounge is open until midnight and if nothing else is open they will fill your mug with soda.

Wouldn't be worth the walk to me anyway. Those mugs are pretty tiny if you ask me. If I'm walking that far for a drink I better get more than that. Just give me ice water.

I really hope they have new designs by the time we go in December. I doubt they do but hoping doesn't hurt. I wasn't too impressed with the pool design.......

It's the same design as last year. If you don't use ice in the mug, which you don't need to as the soda is already cold enough, it holds a lillte over 12 ounces.

Beside any artwork change, the functionality of the mugs have changed. They now have an RFID chip in the bottom of the cup and a sensor under the spigot of the soda fountain, so it will only dispense if it scans valid... no more reusing an 8 year old mug for free drinks. No scan needed for coffee/tea presently. They also changed the rules that you can use a valid mug at any resort self-service beverage station, not just your home resort. Of course Swan and Dolphin are not Disney resorts, so no refills there.

Just confirming that you can now use your refillable mugs at ANY DISNEY RESORT regardless of which resort you actually purchased your mug.

We were at Pop May 31 - June 8 and the sensors at the food court were very temperamental to say the least. Some days it was 2 minutes others it was 3 for drinks refills. For someone like me who likes A LOT of ice (I'm anemic and tend to eat more ice than I should)the cups don't hold that much liquid. I gave up on the diet soda and switched over to drinking the tea for the simple fact that it was easier to get to and use. The paper cups seemed to be the ones with the most issues with the sensors. I have only used the new system at Pop. Let's hope it is better elsewhere.

The whole system is just silly and ridiculous. I can understand eliminating open soda machines but the time limit imposed is disgusting. I usually can down a whole mug full standing at the machine in seconds then ready to refill, and refill many more times while eating. But I will say - its enjoyable to look at people using old cups or expired paper cups lol
