Question About Mission Space...

Hey All,

Just a general question that hopefully someone can help with. I went on Star Tours last year and got slight motion sickness. I went on another ride *i can't remember which one though!* and got sick again. Sick in terms of feeling slightly dizzy and i had to sit down for a few moments.

I honestly can't even do the carousel without getting dizzy BUT i can take any rollercoaster! go figure...

Anyways, my boyfriend really wants to do Mission Space this year...those who have ridden it, do you think I'd be ok riding either side of it or not? i don't want to get sick and ruin the rest of my stay!

Thanks a bunch!

It's the same Ride, The ORANGE version is the ride with the FULL G Force Effects, the GREEN version is a severely toned down version for those less inclined to use the on board Barf Bags :p

They warn you on the ORANGE ride that if you are prone to motion sickness, not to ride it, due to the spinning of the centrifuge the ride is based on, it really does give a kick.

Stay far away from the Orange Team (spinning) version. As far as Green Team (non-spinning), you would probably be all right. I find the motions of M:S Green to be smoother and more fluid than Star Tours, thus a bit less likely to induce motion sickness. However, it is still a simulator, so there is the chance you may feel similar effects. If you feel a little off-kilter after riding, be aware that there are benches just outside the ride bay where you can sit for a little while, if necessary.

When all else fails, pick up some chewable Dramamine. It works great for sensitivity to such motion.

As a side note, Start Tours is much "jerkier" and the video is out-of-synch with the motion by a few milliseconds. It makes me queezy and I love those attractions. Mission Space, due to it's design, is much more smooth. However, as others have stated, if you're sensitive you should stay off Orange. If you do well on green and have the Dramamine, give it a try. At least you'll know what to expect by riding the Green version first.

Good luck!

I have to say I think you will be fine with Team Orange. I get really bad motion sickness on anything that spins and in the car on long drives. I can not ride the Tea Cups, Dumbo etc. Star Tours gets me a bit and don't get me started on Body Wars.

Roller Coasters and TOT do not bother me at all. Same holds true for M:S Orange. As a matter of fact, one trip I rode with 3 other people who get motion sickness and orange did not bother them either. If you look directly at the screen you should be fine. The motion is very smooth and it is synced up really well. The only time I got at all sick on M:S was when I looked to my side.

If you are really worried ride green first to be on the safe side. If that version doesn't bother you ride orange. Orange is a great ride b/c of the forces you experience.

I would reccomend the green (lighter). All the times I've ridden MS, I've ridden green. I dont get motion sickness or anything, but I would hate to be one of the few who has an un-found health issue :dazzle: It only takes one time to die (yeah, I'm a little pre-cautious ).

I went on the green and there really is very little motion so you probably will be fine. Now if I can convince my other half to ride on the Orange one I will be happy....probably sick, but happy.

Ok...Im really new and forgive me if I sound a bit rude, BUT the reason most people get sick on the orange side is because the bodys sugar level is low. Eating a normal mean about two hours before the ride you should be fine, also avoid milk and tomatoes. A banana is a good choice before the ride as well. Oh if you do go on the orange side, try a piece of hard candy like a jolly rancher in your mouth, or sometype of mint or gum, it helps ALOT

Im not a big fan of spinning ride either but i did MS:Orange. I had no problems, and if you do decide to do orange just make sure you follow the suggestions (look at the screen, dont close your eyes, do not look side to side). In hindsight Star Tours made me more dizzy on the ride than MS:Orange did. I have never gotten motion sickness to the point of having to sit down however......

Try MS:Green first. Its very very tame and I dont think you will have any problems with that. It should atleast help in your decision to go Oranage

I personally do not like Mission Space. I rode it once when it first opened and haven't been on it since. It gave me the worst sick feeling headache for the rest of the day. It's not one of those rides that I can't miss everytime we go to the world. I don't really care for it. They didn't have the green side to the ride then, but I still won't even try it...that's just me. From what I've heard, the green side it is pretty tame. So maybe you should try that first.

Did the full version in 2003 and was miserable for several hours afterwards. Did the green version in October and had no issues. BTW, I have some issues with Star Tours and several others but not enough to keep me off of them. Do the green version and you will be fine - still a terrific attraction!!!!!!

If I were you I would stick with the green. I can do it fine. I will not try the orange because it made DH sick the first time he rode it and he never gets sick on anything. That was enough to scare me away.

My 2 cents... I can do M:S orange just fine.

Star Tours, no way...

Very different in the way the motion is both done and perceived by your mind.

Since we are talking about Mission Space, can someone settle an issue for me? Does Team Green spin at all? I have only been on orange and the last time we went our group split up and a friend went on green and he swears it spins. Those of us on orange recall seeing signs that it did not. Just curious!
