Question about Magic Express

My family is coming in an hour before my brother. We are going to wait for him then take the shuttle to the hotel.
I am thinking this will not be a problem, I imagine people do this. I imagine some people may stop at the airport and grab a bite before jumping on the shuttle. I am thinking my family is in the system for that day, just so I have the voucher.
Has anyone waited? Was there a problem? I hate to call because sometimes they get easily confused and I can see me tryin to get a taxi after a screw up.

Thats not a problem at all.

The reason WDW wants you arrival times, is because they try to schedule the busses accordingly. If there is a lot of people arriving at the same time, they put more busses on during that period.

However flights get delayed, people eat lunch, people walk slow or fast, people get lost, some people wait for their luggage, etc.

The only problem you would have is if you were one of the last flights in for the day. Then I would let them know, but seeing as you are waiting for your brother, you are clearly not the last flight.

Waiting an hour should not be a problem at all.

Hi I've been doing ME alot. There is not issue with you showing up later than your arrival time. Just make sure if this is the last flight in that you are not late, the shuttles run accordingly with the air line schedules. There is a last bus out for the day and that depends on which flight is the last one. Other than that you should be fine. Take care and enjoy WDW...It's the best....:sohappy: Oh also make sure you have your ME vouchers and that you have seen a ME cast member before getting on line.

Although handy to have, the DME vouchers are not a requirement. Anyone who books at the last minute won't have vouchers and they just look you up in the system.

Wouldn't want people to be under the misconception that you can't use DME if you don't have the vouchers. They may speed up your check-in process, but that's all they do.

I would say more important than the vouchers are your luggage claim tickets.

While most of the time they are not needed, it makes it much easier for then DME to locate your bag if it goes missing, than a general description of bag shape and color. Especialy if its a black suitcase :)

I laughed when I read this.

3 different times I've had problems after calling back concerning changes to my itinerary. (Including having our ride canceled instead of changing the flight time:eek:)

It's never been a big deal and they've always taken care of the mistakes, but I also prefer not to call unless absolutely necessary.

I always recommend taking a digital photo of your various luggage pieces just before you leave home and print off copies to carry with you. Helps immensely with lost luggage. Baggage claim stubs as well.

Also, if you don't get DME tags the photo and claim stubs speed up the check-in at DME a lot. They'll still retrieve your luggage if you have the stubs and descriptions of the bags.

Im sure everyone knows this already, but just to be sure, DME must be booked in advance to be used at all. As long as you are in the system with a reservation for DME, you will have no problem catching your bus to the Magic!!! Belle

We will be arriving at 5:07 pm at MCO and using DME. We plan on stopping and eating supper at the food court before heading to ME. I'm pregnant and although we're doing the free dining, I'll be starved! I'm sure our 2 yr old will be also! We're also staying at POR.

All that being said, what time should we expect to have our luggage in our room? It's been a while since we've used ME, so I can't remember how long it takes it to get from the airport to your resort and then your resort to your room. Thanks!

2 to 6 hours for your luggage to arrive in your room.

That is a great idea. I will remember this for future flights. Thanks!

We will be using DME for the first time next year. We are due to land around 2.30pm, I know we'll have to collect our baggage and I'm wondering how frequent the shuttles run?

The last couple of years we have used the Virgin Holidays transfers and have waited around 50 minutes for the stragglers to arrive off the flight, even though we'd stopped for drinks and toilet ourselves. A little frustrating when you just want to get a shower and let the holiday begin! I was hoping the process may quicker with DME.

The groupings for your DME bus are from flights from all over not just your particular flight and depending on which grouping of hotels your bus is scheduled for. Im sure it will be fine and will be no where near the 50 minute wait before getting underway. My usual time from coming off the plane to my resort is about 1 1/2 hours roughly, not counting customs.
