Question about Late Night Arrival

Hi all. I had written in here last year when I went with my boyfriend back in August 2007. Well now we are going back yet again because Disney is just way too much fun. Well my main question is about the arrival of luggage. Our flight does not get into Orlando until 11:30 at night, so with that said.. it is just necessary to just pack our on-flight bag with the next day's clothes or will our luggage come sometime during the night? We figure we could get a few full days if we got there late the night before. Anybody had any experience with this? We are going January 3-8 and are staying at Pop Century (Again). Also, what is the weather/crowd like during that time? Disney's site says it's one of the lowest amount of crowds, but wasn't sure as it's just after the New Years. Thanks again! =)

You can always not put the ME tags on your luggage and simply pick it up at baggage claim and take it to ME yourself. This way wouldn't need to worry about clothes. Plus do you really want someone knocking on your door at 3am with your bags when you are probably planning on getting up a little early to hit the parks?

Brilliant...and Canadian

No
Options:

- Don't tag the luggage and get it from baggage claim at MCO.
- Tag the luggage and they'll deliver it to your resort room.
- Tag the luggage and request they hold it until you call in the morning.
- Tag the luggage and request they deliver it the next morning after you're already gone to the parks.

I actually prefer the last option, not lugging luggage yourself, not being woken in the middle of the night and not waiting around for them to deliver after you call.

I remember reading somewhere that Disney had changed their policy for late-arriving flights that unless the Guest specifically requests their bags be delivered, all bags after a certain time are held until the morning.

Monty is correct. In 2007, our flight did not get in until after 10 pm. We waited until 12 am and one bag was delivered. We then requested the remaining luggage be held until morning. One phone call the next morning, and within 20 minutes, we had our remaining baggage.

Just a little off subject...

I'll be driving not flying, but this is the first time we'll be arriving at night. Anybody ever have problems with late check-ins? Should i call that day and make sure they know we're arriving late? (It's supposed to be on the reservation) We usually arrive around 3:00PM but we're trying a new strategy and will be arriving between 10:00 and 11:00 PM.
Thanx

OP thanks for this thread! I was wondering this about our upcoming trip. Our flight gets in at 10:30pm and I'm guessing we'll get to the resort at 11:30. I'm trying to decide what to do about the luggage. We're staying at pop the first night then transfering to OKW.

Is there a way that we could get our luggage held and in the morning get just one bag brought up? That way we don't have to have everything brought up just for some shampoo, hair stuff, and makeup then turn around and take it all back down. I could probally get everything I need into my carryon with the restrictions but I know my mom needs a ton of stuff.

We've gotton in between 11 and midnight, got our bags from the carosel no DME tags on the bags, went to the front desk check in was fast because there's really no one there. The first time we drove we got in after 9 and still had no problem

I've driven into the Allstars at 10:30pm on a Sunday night and had no trouble checking in*. I think the front desks are staffed 24-hours.

Just like any other hotel, I believe that if you do not call 24-hours in advance saying otherwise, they assume you will be arriving on your check-in date. Wouldn't hurt to call before leaving home to re-confirm your reservation.

* - Well, the only "trouble" was an enthusiastic desk CM who was eager to tell me everything about the resort when, at nearly 11pm, the only thing I cared about was getting to bed... :)

I believe you aren't considered a no-show for your reservation until 7am or so the next morning.

No need to call. In fact, if you try to call the resort, you just get Disney's main switchboard, anyway, not the front desk of the resort.

You are not a no-show until after 6:00 a.m. the following day. They won't give away your room. Period. No doubt about it. Disney policy.

As well they shouldn't, since you have already paid for at least 1 night.

Just to give you an idea. We flew in about 7, getting to Pop about 8pm. The luggage arrived about 1:15am. I would either skip the DME luggage tags and pick up the luggage yourself, (you can still take it out to the bus), or just carry on the needed things, and have them deliver the luggage in the morning.

Just a few more questions on this topic...if we take our luggage on ME will someone help us get it on the bus? And when we check in to POR, at 1am, will there be a CM with the golf cart type car available to drive our luggage to the room since the resort is quite large?

This is the first girl-only, no car trip we have taken. And as we all know girls don't travel light. :animwink:

If you take it on ME you will take it through the line then when you show your ticket to the bus driver you will leave your bags to the side and he/she will load them onto the bus and unload them at your resort. I would say when you get there have someone go check in and the other person go to bell services and request your luggage be delivered. You may want to wait until after you check in since you could get a room close by and won't want to spend the tip.

I totally understand not traveling light! I always take a large and small suitcase and my large purse.

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to get our bags held since our plane will be in late and just have one brought up the next morning? We could pack all of our stuff we'd need that morning in there. That way we would have less to take down since we are switching resorts.

You're cool. I once checked in at Pop at 3 a.m. No problem other than staying awake. :D
