Question about EM Hours

Ok, I know this may not be the "right" thing to do, but hey, its worth a shot!!

I'm going to Disney this June, and for the first time in years, I will not be staying on Disney property.

How closely do the cast members check the room keys? If I were to bring some room keys from our last visit (July of 2009), do you guys think that they would notice?

im going in june too.. glad to know there will be people trying to crowd up the emh that my fiance and I are paying to stay on park property to enjoy..
way to make the experience better for everyone. why not try and cut some lines during the day too? then you can go on anything you want. way to go..

My experience has been that some ride monitors don't look at the room key at all and just wave you through, while others literally take out a flashlight and inspect the card information.

The first time this happened to my family, it made me think there must be people at the park who are trying to cheat the system if they are checking that closely, and I was really glad I wasn't one of them. My DH thanked the CM for checking our cards, hoping it would encourage her to continue to check them closely, and discourage people who were using them dishonestly.

We were there the week before spring break. The morning emh's they checked every card. We have AP's and so we didn't use our room keys for entrance...each person in our group had to hold and show their own card. The CM at the gate checked the dates before allowing us to enter. At the evening emh's CM's were again checking dates on cards. Not something I'd want to risk the shame over.

I've had the same experience. I'd say at about 2/3 of the attractions they looked at both of our cards and verified the dates.

Just something to think about - if you haven't already chosen your off-property hotel - some of the places on Hotel Plaza Boulevard, which I think are considered off-property, have EMH and some don't. The ones I know of personally are Hilton (yes) and Best Western (no).

Not only is it not the "right" thing to do... it IS the "wrong" thing to do. I'm not going to moralize on this, but I personally would hope that if anyone tried this they would be escorted from the park by security for attempting to lie t the park.

Just a tip...not really a good idea to post on here asking about whether or not you can get away with breaking the rules. Especially since there are tons of people here who always stay on property, paying more for Disney hotels, so that they can take advantage of EMHs.

Hey, well if you are going to try to get away with staying for EMH while not staying on property and justifying it in your mind, why not just try to sneak into the park without paying, steal some food and merchandise, and pick some pockets while you are at it.....:fork:

Without lynching you, yes it's wrong and they most likely will notice. If you do try it, please post here the end results, I'd like to know how it goes.

If you were paying to stay on property and found out people from off property were doing this, how would you feel? Pretty upset, I would imagine.

Actually, I would not be upset. I am all for people taking up any opportunity to enjoy their time at Disney to the fullest. I would never get as angry as some of you guys have gotten over an issues that does not matter in the big scheme of things.

This isnt an issue that doesnt matter, its fraud and as such not fair to those who stay on property for this privilage.

It sound like one of my kids who got caught doing somthing a new was not right and trying to make it sound like but everyone is doing it. Or it did not hurt anyone will it does we saved a long time to stay at the Poly because of the perks and someone who did not for what ever reason is wrong you must of thougt it was wrong or you would not have asked the question. I always tell my kids there is never a right way to do the wrong thing not matter how you try to justify it. Stop trying to say that other people are making a big deal out of nothing if you thought it was nothing why did you start this thread did you really think everyone was going to say go ahead I think it would be great I don't think so if you were ok with it you just would have done it and not said anything.

This specific issue might not upset you, but it would upset others as has been clearly shown. Although you are right that you cheating the system won't cause the world to end, EMHs are intended for people who stay on property. I would guess that if too many people started doing this, they would stop offering EMHs, which would then affect "any opportunity to enjoy...Disney to the fullest" by people staying on property.

I'm also going to be there in June for my honeymoon and if I saw someone trying to cheat the system, I would speak up. So please try to avoid me....thanks :)
