Question about EM Hours

Ok, I know this may not be the "right" thing to do, but hey, its worth a shot!!

I'm going to Disney this June, and for the first time in years, I will not be staying on Disney property.

How closely do the cast members check the room keys? If I were to bring some room keys from our last visit (July of 2009), do you guys think that they would notice?

Actually, I would not be upset. I am all for people taking up any opportunity to enjoy their time at Disney to the fullest. I would never get as angry as some of you guys have gotten over an issues that does not matter in the big scheme of things.

Ok, a few problems here... One, you would never get as angry as some of us? Well clearly not, you seem to lack the same level of ethics as many of the posters here.

"Issues that does not matter in the big scheme of things?" Well that's a nice little gift you've given yourself there. You're going to try to break the rules and defraud an amusement park, something that is clearly wrong, but in order to justify it, you give yourself the gift of saying that it doesn't matter in the big scheme of things. Sure compared to murder this isn't so bad, but it doesn't make it right.

And as far as a people taking advantage of something to enjoy their time at Disney to the fullest, well you're trying to do that DOES directly impact mine. I like going to EMH at the end of the day because, in theory, the parks should be less crowded. If guys like you are crowding up the place when you shouldn't even be there, then you ARE directly impacting me.

Furthermore, it doesn't matter how you would or would not react to someone else. That's like a little kid who punches another child and then says, why's he crying, I wouldn't cry if she hit me! Well, it doesn't matter whether you would or would not be upset, it matters what the person you are impacting thinks.

Let's just cut to the chase, you came on here to ask a question, you've gotten your answer, now stop trying to justify why you're going to do something that most people here find deplorable.

You people are too much sometimes. Not to defend the OP, since it would most definitely aggravate me beyond all limits to discover someone in front of me was doing this, it also isn't the kidnapping of the Lindberg baby.

He is simply trying to get a few extra rides in. He isn't extorting money out of Disney. He paid his admission. Now I'm not saying he is right to do this, and it would most certainly irritate me to discover some people in line aren't staying on-site, but let's get some perspective: he's simply overstaying his welcome...and if a CM lets him on the attractions, he didn't defraud anyone (at least not under the law). The CM is more liable for the problem in this case. If The OP had altered his room card, that would be fraud.

And as far as a people taking advantage of something to enjoy their time at Disney to the fullest, well you're trying to do that DOES directly impact mine. I like going to EMH at the end of the day because, in theory, the parks should be less crowded. EMH, essentially, is merely an extension of park hours. I've seen wait times that were even worse during EMH than during the day. I've also seen the opposite. The number of people who use old room keys is negligible at best. However, Disney must be a bit concerned that this can happen, because during my last trip most (but not all) CMs did at least appear to scrutinize the room key for dates, something they didn't due when they first implemented this.

Furthermore, it doesn't matter how you would or would not react to someone else. That's like a little kid who punches another child and then says, why's he crying, I wouldn't cry if she hit me! Well, it doesn't matter whether you would or would not be upset, it matters what the person you are impacting thinks.

I agree. However, many of the responses to the original question were bordering on moralizing, which itself is just as inappropriate as the original question. It is not my job, nor your job, nor anyone elses job to tell the OP he is in the wrong. It's Disney's job to enforce its policies.

Let's just cut to the chase, you came on here to ask a question, you've gotten your answer, now stop trying to justify why you're going to do something that most people here find deplorable.

To answer the question again, yes, the CMs appear to look at the dates on the room keys. Whether or not they actually look at it is another story entirely.

You make a good point Fosse, but I think we are both on the same page here. Bottom line, don't do it.

On another note, Fosse eh? I directed Pippin last year, I am a HUGE fosse fan.

It's not taking time to enjoy Disney to the fullest, it's stealing. You did not pay for the privilage. By attending a Magic Hour that you did not pay for makes you no better than some thief shoplifting for a store.

Lasy year they always checked our dates. Even on my 3 and 4 yr olds tics.

Would like to see Disney change the appearance of Tics/room keys. from year to year. This would help some in this area. I have room keys from 5 years ago that look the same as last years.

I personally would like to see him try. Saw a guy do the same thing at ToT last year. Everyone cheered as he was escorted away. Hecklers were in abundance. Dude and his girlfriend were clearly humiliated.

WOW! I really did mean for this to get out of hand! First off, let me say that my AUNT wanted me to ask this question! If you knew me, you would know that I am one of the most timid people on this planet! Just the idea of doing what she intended on doing gave me butterflies!! I hate trouble!! lol!

I'm really not a cheat, but when I go to Disney, I most often go with my aunt, and she pays for it...so basically I have to go by her rules!

Sorry for giving yall the wrong idea about who I am!

I'm gonna show this post to my aunt so that she can see how yall feel!! haha

I'm new to this forum so I really don't want my reputation to be tarnished because of a question that wasnt even my own!

So, can we start over?!?! I'm really not a terrible person!

No worries dude...

I think that many of the people on these boards, myself included, really get into researching Disney, and learning the rules and tricks and all, that are within the system. I also think we tend to get annoyed both here and at WDW when we think we know the system and someone just does whatever they want to do, regardless of what his or her intention is.

You asked an honest question, and got an honest answer, no harm no foul. I guess my only advice is, trying to justify stuff on these boards is going to lead to heated arguments.

Glad to have you on the boards though.

Thanks! I'll take that advice, and I'll also refrain from posting questions that my aunt wants me to post!! lol

Don't worry :) We know you're not a bad person. Family and friends have asked me the same thing, and I never blew up at them. Just told them it's not a great idea - just pay a few bucks extra to get a room at a value resort and you're in!

Heck, from age 9 to 17 my family of 5 stayed at the All Stars in a four-person room. It's what we could afford at the time, I'm certainly not sorry for it, and now we're all by-the-book.

Other topics to stay away from: Asking about free dining this year, when the monorail will reach to another park, how old is too old for a stroller, taking kids out of school for Disney and anything about cheating the Disney system. Welcome to the Boards
