I see Florida plates too.

But that’s not unusual. Some snowbirds carry Florida plates (lower car insurance rates for one)...others simply don’t bother to ever change their registrations until they see lights in their rear view mirror.

Even in this scenario you’ll see them.
I realize that. I've been paying attention to traffic patterns and such since everything closed down, and three in a small amount of time, in a small area, from the same state was surprising.

I doubt any of these people I'm talking to are going to be driving. None of them seem to worry about anything involved with tracing etc either. And your comment about the high net worth well isn't that who Disney has been targeting for a long time now anyway?
Right...so flying brings them into scrutiny at home. I only know that New Jersey just began collecting airline data and they are planning to have the county health departments contacting those arriving of flights from hotzones. That’s a prelude to fines.

If I went to wdw say the last week of August...and my kids went to school on opening day (tentatively 9/8 in person)...and one of them said they were in Florida...by law the teachers/nurses/administrators have to call the county health department and report them as quarantine violators.

So that $285 room at port orleans May have strings attached.

We have a disproportionate number of rental cars in my area of IL with Florida plates. I see them on the lots when I’m picking one up and drive some of them with quite a bit of frequency. They are consistently local and based out of the local franchise but registered out of Florida.

We both have our opinions. Yours is that lifting a quarantine on several entire states will result in one to two more families going to Disney. My opinion is that they'll see 5-10% more crowd over the next few months than they would have without the lift of the restriction.

I respect your opinion even though I disagree. Guess time will tell.
Time will tell and I also respect your opinion.
I’m basing my opinion on what I see as a husband to a wife, who lives in the northeast, and is a Disney specialist travel agent. Not one client, not one from our home state of PA or a few that she had booked for August and September has decided to keep their reservation. Moving into October and November, there are still a few hanging on but from talking with them, maybe one will keep it. There’s no rush to her from anyone to book anything yet. Like you said, time will tell but it’s not looking good.

Yep...same thing on this side of the Delaware. Know quite a few travelers who always go to food and wine - most DVC - and they’ve nearly all dumped.

I actually have a reservation for Jersey week...but nobody in my house wants to go...and nobody wants to deal with masks...and without aps available it completely changes my thinking for a year +

I haven’t been exaggerating when I have been predicting how wrecked Disney travel will be. And the recession dynamics haven’t even hit yet.

I think this could be the one thing that breaks Disney’s hold for a significant time. Terrorism didn’t...storms don’t...gambling with houses didn’t...

This is a bigger problem.

Agreed. DVC here also. Don’t want to deal with masks. Switched ours out to January and that doesn’t look good right now either. We have time to change but with use month in February and tons of borrowed points, well let’s just say RCI for a ski trip is starting to look better and better.

Might want to have a temperature check there...

...this is laughable. No one is coming. New Jersey is quietly prepping monetary fines for flying in and out of hotzones and not observing quarantines (I do a fair amount of state work and have a lot of contacts)...so Florida has no power over the reality here.
No word from New Jersey (1) yet on fines but New York (2) is now requiring travelers arriving at its airports from states on a quarantine list to fill out a form with contact information and details about their trip — or receive a $2,000 fine

(1) https://morriscountynj.gov/2020/07/...s-travel-quarantine-requirement-to-22-states/
(2) https://www.nj.com/coronavirus/2020...-dont-provide-info-unlike-ny-murphy-says.html

There is plenty of evidence (credit card records and cell phone location data) that, once lawfully subpoenaed for a criminal investigation, can serve to prove that a person was in a location that was on the list as restricted.

These fines are more for deterrence than actual collection, but think of all the money you can make threatening to turn in your neighbors unless they bring you back Brer Rabbit, Brer Fox and Brer Bear plushies.

Just throwing out some purely anecdotal thoughts-- I've got friends, coworkers, and family that live in the North East (Armonk/Ballston Spa/Saratoga Springs/The City, NY; Saddlebrook, NJ; Providence, RI; New London/Groton/Mystic, CT) most of whom love to travel and enjoy going to various places, including Las Vegas and Florida (for Disney as well as Miami and various beaches).

What I've heard is that they're itching to go places (other than things a local drive away), BUT that the main hold up is how uncomfortable the trip would be vs the cost: masks on a plane, masks at theme parks, no shows (Vegas), limited things being open, etc; and less so about any quarantine implications. The one exception to that is Hawaii-- I've heard a couple of people say that they'd deal with the unhappy flight to go there, but don't want to deal with the strict quarantine they'd be put through on arriving (stuck at hotel with a one time use key to get you into your room, regular checkups from police, and arrests, fines, and deportation if you break quarantine -- Hawaii really doesn't want visitors to come).

Not saying that quarantines don't have impact, just in the circles of people I know it's not that big of a concern- whether that means they'd ignore the restriction or because they work from home so it's not a huge problem.

The pent up demand, once we get a vaccine and a little herd immunity going to be insane.
Add to that the refundable tax credit for travel (It's coming) and I'd assume 2021 COULD be a record breaker for the parks.

The quarantine period for people traveling from Florida to NJ or NY is based on a 10 day rolling average. Since Florida had an 8 65% positive rate Wednesday and is falling the quarantine should be over by the end of August based on reasonable expectations of a continued fall. Even if it just falls to less than 5% a day the quarantine should be lifted.

I'm surprised people are still traveling out of state. Here they have been promoting more vacations in province.
The New England states all have a mutual agreement that if you come and go between counties with low infection rates, you don't need to quarantine. I think NY, NJ, and PA also might be included too.

Plus, keep in mind that the New England states are tiny compared to most Canadian provinces.

Also, many rental companies have FL plates on their cars - that lower tax thing. And since there aren't as many rentals in FL right now they may have transferred them to other areas where people with cabin fever may rent them for more local travel - such as people living in major cities with good public transportation and high parking costs.

I live in CT....It is not true that over 50% of adults work from home....its just not possible
It’s a high number...but not that high.

I tend to see a lot of posts these days (I’m guilty too) saying high numbers of “everyone” do or don’t do certain things that doesn’t cut mustard.

I tend to think we might bring assessments of “upscale suburbia”...which is what Disney fans have been conditioned to believe is “normal”

This might be a case of that.

I know 2 people working from home. 1 has been told not to expect to return to the office until September at the earliest - she's in NY state. The other holds a fairly high position and also has an immune system issue, so she's working from home indefinitely. She's just outside of New England.
