Don't forget...the situation changes all the time. I'm in MA and as of yesterday, I can't visit our neighboring state of Rhode Island without quarantining upon return.
And you get shot if you try to go to Maine by their Mounted Police, right?
Also. If you live in RI, take 5 steps and you are in another state. :)
I love that joke...we use it for Delaware...

I doubt that will change things much. A few more people may go now but many don't have to money to go. Demand for theme parks is non existent this summer. Even regional parks aren't drawing.

This is a really broad sweeping statement. Demand is not nonexistent. The tri-state area has some of the highest numbers of people teleworking. They are also high cost of living states meaning many of the people there who would even consider a Disney vacation are likely still able to afford one.

Not saying this lifting the quarantine will boost attendance but it wouldn't shock me if it did.

Do you live in that area?

Might want to have a temperature check there...

...this is laughable. No one is coming. New Jersey is quietly prepping monetary fines for flying in and out of hotzones and not observing quarantines (I do a fair amount of state work and have a lot of contacts)...so Florida has no power over the reality here.

Florida has had decent tourism in spite of covid. The northeast has had essentially none. That's likely because Florida has 20% of the deaths with a larger and older population.

No one in their right mind is traveling to Florida right now. Florida has bungled this worse than almost any other state except for GA.

The states listed are actually INCREASING their own quarantine orders, adding fines and upping enforcement, and the way things are going, lockdowns are very likely to be happening again.

The amount of people willing to risk their lives to go to one of the biggest hotspots in the world to have a half-baked but still premium priced Disney trip are minuscule.

This is like saying Nevada is the most humid state in the country.

Its funny that the hardcore Disney fans don't want to believe that demand is down. Its like they stick their fingers in their ears and go lalalala

By boosting if you mean another family or two, yes. There is no rush or even that much mildcinterest to go down to WDW right now.

Hardcore Disney fans do that no matter what. Especially younger ones. I remember telling one that JII needed reimagining a couple years ago, and I about had my head chewed off because of it. They refuse to take any negativity about their precious Disney.

We both have our opinions. Yours is that lifting a quarantine on several entire states will result in one to two more families going to Disney. My opinion is that they'll see 5-10% more crowd over the next few months than they would have without the lift of the restriction.

I respect your opinion even though I disagree. Guess time will tell.

I work in stock market data sales so I'm up there every 2 weeks for about the past decade. Prior to the pandemic at least, not as often right now. Everyone I work with daily is from the tristate area though.
The reason I ask is I was wondering how you’re rating the desire to travel to Florida from that area?

...because I’m in it and it’s practically non-existent.

And I’m not claiming it’s even rational...but quite a large statistical majority - just from the sense you get on the street - seem to consider Florida a joke as it stands.

I’m sure some have and will travel...but I don’t see the lifting of Florida’s “ban”...which most have forgotten or didn’t know even existed...Changing much.

The quarantines in our states are getting a lot of chatter...particularly the 14 requirements and how it may affect returning to work and most definitely the concept of kids in schools - which are driving most discussions now.

Yeah that's definitely interesting. All my clients are from that area and although travel doesn't come up on every call several of them over the past few weeks have talked about Disney/beach vacations and a few of them have mentioned the quarantine basically making it a no-go. Most of the people I talk to when travel comes up are dying to get out and go somewhere.

Now the large pool of people I talk to is essentially limited to high net worth and ultra high net worth hedge fund managers, investment bankers, etc etc. So maybe that is skewing it.

I was stunned while I was running around taking care of some things today to see THREE plates from Florida just in the small area I was driving around in (in my own town).

Ya think?

But seriously...you think the mention of “quarantines” has to to with the Florida rule that was 6 months ago and not enforced?
...or is it their home rules that are becoming more strict and involving fines or tracing by public health reps?

Because I’ll take a guess and say it’s the latter.

“We were gonna go to Disney for two weeks...but that Stickler Desantis makes you fill out a little paper form on I-95 in the spot where they used to give out free orange juice...
...well they did for a couple of days in April at least...anyway”

Sound about right?

I see Florida plates too.

But that’s not unusual. Some snowbirds carry Florida plates (lower car insurance rates for one)...others simply don’t bother to ever change their registrations until they see lights in their rear view mirror.

Even in this scenario you’ll see them.

I doubt any of these people I'm talking to are going to be driving. None of them seem to worry about anything involved with tracing etc either. And your comment about the high net worth well isn't that who Disney has been targeting for a long time now anyway?
