Puerto Rico in talks to host permanent pavilion in Epcot by 2017

Well Puerto Rico would certainly like more tourism dollars and you won't even need a passport!

But, I'm not sure they will see much bang for their buck. I've never been under the impression that World Showcase pavilions produce much ROI for the respective countries. I love Maelstrom and all but haven't booked a trip to Arendelle yet because I couldn't find flights from anywhere in the NYC metro area, for example.

I don't see this happening.

I know the Caribbeans islands not have a Pavilion in world Showcase is an omission, but Puerto Rico is not a country. It is not a state of the United States either.

The other thing is Disney had told with many countries, but a lot of them haven't been built.

The problem with the countries that are Caribbean Islands is people usually don't have the money on the islands or is political related like Cuba.

Antarctica has a culture?

Antarctica does have permenant residents, granted its a collection of other cultures from around the world.

I just brought it up since it is a continent, it would more be a pavillion about history and science and scenery than culture. But theres still more than enough information and things to talk about to fill up a pavillion.

the staff there could pose as researchers from around the world.
and as antarctica doesn't have its own government, disney could fund the pavillion to add to the world showcase, without it being seen as a departure from requesting some finacial support from the country being represented.

They could totally do this WS side expansion and have it be continents rather than countries. The continent pavillions could be focused more on history and science, and rotate thru the cultures of the countries they represent with the support of the countries, while the individual country pavilllions would continue to be country supported, this would give even small countries a chance to be represented without a huge fiscal long term investment.

That would save the southern Lagoon expansion for additional countries.

If you aren't referring to new restaurants being built, I don't see it happening.

Antartica's restaurant would probably be fabulous, a collection of dishes from around the world, with the occassional survival meal thrown in.

ICE bar anyone? some cities have those and they are fabulous.

They could also have a permenant snow play place.
