I would assume the next country would be like New Zealand or whatever country gets tagged as the geographical inspiration for Moana. But only if Moana does crazy good business.

This may have been asked before, but what would happen if this was built, and then a couple years later, the debate finally fell to the side to make the PR a state, would they rebrand it as the Caribbean or just have a pavilion for a state?
I've wondered if thought has been given to what happens if Venice is ever successful in seceding from Italy.

That's an interesting question, but since PR is very very unlikely to ever be a state, and Epcot is very very unlikely to add a full pavilion country (it hasn't in nearly 30 years), it's kind of a moot point.

two cents: Russia would be a good choice (very unlike rest of pavilions) i just dont know how disney PR will feel about an S-300 front and center =)

Disney has been known to assume "sponsorship" of pavilions when something is in it for them (see Norway and Frozen).

I could see a Caribbean pavilion if it served as an International Gateway-style bridge to, say, a collection of new DVC villas at Caribbean Beach Resort. Disney would certainly need some incentives to get people to buy at the first DVC addition to a moderate resort (which has been rumored).

I don't think there's that big of a 'need' for a Caribbean area. Go to Caribbean Plaza at the Magic Kingdom and jump on Pirates.

Spain would have been nice. I'd have loved Switzerland and the Matterhorn. Or Mt. Fuji in Japan. Come on Disney ... take World Showcase to the next level. But first fix Future World ... yuck what a mess.

Not sure if this has been said here yet, but I've always thought Egypt would be a fruitful addition. Such rich history, art, food, and culture. How about a Nile River ride or a pyramid (already taken by Mexico?) Maybe a mummy attraction (already taken by Uni?)

I don't know if you guys noticed but the article in question was removed by request of author. Not sure what that really means.

I do agree there are better countries to use for the world showcase. If anything I would consider a section of the Caribbean, and include all the taste of the islands. (Jamaica, PR, Dominican Republic, Cuba etc). But that really does not Jive with "World ShowCase" although, that's been kind tampered with the addition of Frozen in Norway.

As for the United States Territory, I don't think the US wants another state. Congress already established that in the past few weeks by basically telling the Island "drop dead" to their economic crisis. Puerto Rico is schedule to pay 1 billion dollars on January 3rd and congress said "Will deal with you by the end of March". Which is obviously too late... This will be interesting because PR can't default because of their current agreement with the US. Congress needs to address a lot of issues, first 2 should be bankruptcy laws and the Merchant Marine Act (Jones act) which is not only draining the economy for PR but also for Guam and American Samoa.
