Proof of Vaccination or Negative COVID Test required for theme parks soon?

I went to ikea in Houston a few days ago.

Why would you go to a store that doesn't share the same ideology you do?

Like... at this point, with Disney still enforcing mask mandates, why would you bother still calling yourself a Disney fan if you're so radically against them?

Mask mandates will stick around for quite some time, even if they aren't being mandated by the government. You still have health care insurance companies, and private entities that still need to save money and reduce liability. Of course if that's a problem, you can always just give up your health insurance, and stop supporting companies with vaccine mandates.

But somehow, y'all are still here talking about Disney .... somehow.

Everyone I know who has gotten sick from this wave is boosted.
I'm recovering from having covid last week and I never got boosted. Only got the original two shots last April. My symptoms were no worse than a head cold.

I guess we can take that as either the vaccines from 9 months ago still helped me, or that omicron isn't really as harmful as the OG and delta variant. 🤷‍♂️

I vote for the first option, along with maybe you didn't inhale a huge viral load. My post #771 says that the latter is less likely as plenty of people are still requiring hospitalization.

I'm seeing lots of personal anecdotes extrapolated instead of actual data.

Edit: now post 755. Looks like there's been some pruning.

I know this is just a personal anecdote but my girlfriend's best friend got covid a few weeks back and was actually hospitalized and she is otherwise a very healthy person, she eats very well and exercises but still got hit hard, she could barely taste and her throat hurt so bad she couldn't even speak and it hurt to swallow. She is on the road to recovery now but she has had lasting fatigue and that mental fog I see people talk about where they just can't focus as well and feel a little cloudy in their thought. Before Omicron was a thing my twin brother got covid and he was sick for about 4-5 days but not deathly ill, didn't get hospitalized or anything. My gf's friend is double vaccinated but wasn't boosted, my twin was double vaccinated and that was before boosters were a thing for covid. And my twin is way less healthy than my gf's friend who had a much worse case of covid so while you can sorta tell who covid will hit harder it is still totally random. My coworker who is an older lady got covid and she has recovered but weeks later still has tons of fatigue, yet her husband who is older than her slightly had a very mild case and they both caught it at the same time.

Basically from what I've noticed is that some people get very mild cases or some people get hit hard and there doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason based on all the people over the last 2 years I've seen get covid. That's why I try to be careful but I do still go out to events like concerts and bars and clubs (except not now during the Omicron spike).

The take-away from this is that as we know, and just like other diseases, COVID affects people differently. The vast majority may have minor symptoms if infected after vaccination, but some cases might be more severe. But the important thing to note is that the reality is vaccinated people are more likely to not require hospitalization and have less sever symptoms than someone who is unvaccinated. Don't take the gamble, get vaccinated (not directed at any particular person).

Also glad to hear that your friends and colleague are getting better after their infection.

There’s nothing like paying dues to a powerful union the looks out for their members..
Prior to the pandemic, CMs were already getting sick from all the bugs and gross things that guests carry into the parks. Measles doesn't even touch the tip of the iceberg. Couldn't imagine working in the parks now without vaccination. Just asking for it at that point.

Here's this week's update on Covid cases and hospitalizations for SoCal, gang!

Omicron surge has obviously peaked, and hospitalizations and case rates are declining. Although case rates still are dramatically higher in LA County (Six Flags, Universal Studios) compared to Orange County (Disneyland, Knott's).

LA County = 69.1% Fully Vaccinated - 4,426 Cases Per 100K Residents Past 14 Days
Orange County
= 69.3% Fully Vaccinated - 2,396 Cases Per 100K Residents Past 14 Days

I agree.

There's absolutely no way to work in this kind of crowded environment day after day and not get exposed to all manner of colds and flus and viruses and bacterias. The average CM with just a few years of tenure probably has the immunity of a retired lab rat. 🤣

We say the same about working in casinos, we are exposed to people from every corner of the earth on a daily basis, if there’s a germ out there we are probably exposed to it. Makes for a strong immune system.

Exactly. In Sweden, you can't even buy antibacterial soap or any home cleaning products with antibacterial properties. It's been banned since the 1980's. And it's worked wonders for their immunity and health as a society.

Although, that didn't stop my Aunt Ingrid in the 1980's from going to Price Club (now Costco) in San Diego to stock up on mega packs of Dial Soap to airmail to her extended family back in Stockholm. She was so worried about it! 🤣

Quoting you again as I did a quick Target run today. There were a gaggle of CM’s wearing those blue and orange Tomorrowland uniforms. They’d obviously just come from work, and they were all unmasked (like me and other Target shoppers in OC where the state “mandates” are all very optional).

I don’t blame them. After a long shift masked in a crowded theme park, I can only imagine how nice it must be to take your mask off and just wander around a quiet Target.

Same for teachers!! I really fear no germ after years of small children running to hug me seconds after being discretely told to remove their hands from their pants.

The bigger takeaway here is the huge decline in show seeing park costumes worn at Target by cast members.
