Proof of Time questions

What constitutes "proof of time"? Is there a form or something I have to fill out? How do I know if a race is "certified" and certified by who? I found a local 10k I can do in October to have something for the Marathon Weekend Half. I'm certainly not expecting to be leading any packs, but I have read trip reports of people stuck in the last corral taking 24 minutes to do the first mile because of all the walkers. Also, if I am running with my sister, is there a way to be sure we are in the same corral? Thanks!

No form to fill out. In the past I've just sent an email to disneysports@trackshack.com

When I do it, I put a link to the entry results and tell them my bib number so that they can easily find me. You probably don't need the link...then again they do seem to be getting stricter with corral placement (which is a very good thing). You need to include your name, the distance of the race, the city and state the race was in, the date of the race and your finish time. I don't think you need to worry about the certification stuff - I think they mean you can't email them like "hey, I ran a 10K around the block today, here's a picture of my Garmin!" It needs to be results they can (presumably) look up and verify online...assuming they are doing that now.

If you and your sister end up in different corrals whoever is in the earlier corral can drop back to the later corral so that you can run together. The last couple of years my brother has been placed in B and has dropped back to run in C with me.

You definitely want to submit a time if you can!! :) I'll be curious to see if the issues they've had in the past improve this year because they seem to be taking a stricter stance on placing people.

Proof of time will need to be emailed to TrackShack, which coordinates the Orlando events. Here is the email:
disneysports@trackshack.com. The race doesn't necessarily need to be "certified." The local race you're planning should work fine. My opinion is that ANY time you can send is better than NO time. As far as running with your sister, there are two options. Both submit similar estimated times and hope the corral assignment is the same. Or, the one starting in a closer to front corral move back to run with the other.

Bolding is mine...totally agree, any time is better than none. It would drive me nuts waiting any longer in the corrals to start.

About submitting similar times...my brother's time last year was 1 minute faster than mine and he ended up in B while I was in C. o_O You just never know!

Yeah, it seems previous events were pretty scattered, as far as consistency went. I'm hoping the change to "no expo corral changes" will make things better. My only complaint is we won't be able to use Wine & Dine as potential proof of time as it doesn't meet their November 1 cut-off

That November 1 cutoff does seem really early. It was hard to find one I could do in October. Even this one is 2 hours away from me. Maybe something better will pop up before then. December 1 would have given me lots of other options.

Thanks for the info. I was curious about dropping back a corral if one of us was placed ahead of the other. So that is something you can do on race day...just show up at the later corral? Neither one of us will mind dropping back, as long as we aren't in the last one!

yes I ditto what Shannon and aupr8Hd said... I just submitted my proof of time about 3 weeks ago .. they emailed me back like on Monday and said everything was updated and that my corral would reflect my time on race day! ..
so good luck on the proof of time! .. it always helps , when you want to take pics of characters.. haha!

see you on the course:)

Shannon and yes they are looking at them .. and reserchin them.. , bc I sent my 10k time from the cotton row .. and I sent them the website with the results just to be positive they saw it! :)

Basically as long as your letter is the same or better than the corral, they won't stop you. Some of the check points are basically just making sure that only A,B,C,D get through, and then each corral has their own spot just to make sure you don't try to seed yourself better than you should be.

What @dreamfinder said. When we were heading to the corrals we went to C...the CMs checked our bibs and saw that bro had B and I had C and it was fine.

Also, it doesn't have to be a 10K for your proof of time, it has to be AT LEAST a 10K. So if you find, say, a 10-miler or a half in your area that works better you could use that too.

So I have decided to take a bit of a chance on the proof of time. I'm not going to be ready for the 10K on Oct. 12, it is in the evening 2 1/2 hours away from me on a day when I have another commitment so all signs are pointing to no for that one. There is another one on November 2 that is much closer to me, in the morning and will have race results posted online that afternoon. So I am going to take the chance that I run in that, submit my time that afternoon, beg them to accept it half a day late, and pray that the nice folks at runDisney/TrackShack are in a good mood when they come in Monday morning! I called and asked them about it. They said it would probably be accepted, but they couldn't guarantee it.

Does anyone know how long they usually take to respond back? I sent my time in sunday night (hopefully I gave them all the info they needed as there doesn't seem to be explicit instructions) and I'm really hoping they receive it and okay it before the cutoff.

I am in the same boat and near panicking myself. I sent my Proof of Time in on Monday afternoon. From what I heard, most people hear back within 24-48 hours (unless there is a recent big Disney race like the DL half, which they should have caught up with by now).
I am giving it another day and if I don't hear back, I will send in my Proof of Time again and again and again if necessary. I worked really hard to my time in a half marathon and I am quite proud of it and want it to count!

Which race?

In the past when I've sent in proof of time they've emailed back with a day or so.

Oh wow I feel a bit better now, I just double checked the cutoffs for Princess/Tink which I could have sworn were very soon but actually aren't until dec/jan!! Sorry for the freakout

I would say since you sent in sunday you could hear back by the end of this week , but remember they are getting ready for the tower of terror race coming up soon!..

I'm glad someone started this. I am running the Goofy again this year and was wondering what is the minimum race distance that I can submit for a proof of time - a 10k, half marathon, etc? I'm running a half marathon in a couple of weeks and I'm hoping they'll accept that, but if they're looking for a marathon I'll have to use my goofy time for January which was pretty bad. Thanks!

You can use your half marathon time for the Goofy Challenge so you will be good!

@Kristia has already answered that the half will be sufficient. Any race that is a 10 miler or above can be used for proof of time for the Full, Goofy or Dopey
