Project: Gemini Put On Hold

Hi everyone, just wanted to post this depressing little bit. According to www.mouseinfo.com, the revitalization of Epcot known as Project: Gemini, has been put on hold indefinitely. The article is mainly about the 50th anniversary celebration at Disneyland, but she mentions Project: Gemini in it. She really sounds like she knows what's really going on, so I don't know whether to believe it or not, but I really hope that this isn't true...

Considering EPCOT just got Illuminations, Figment's Imagination, Missio: Space, and possably a new parade comming soon, I think that they could probably put the money intended for Genini to better use at MK or AK, both of which have not gotten E-tickets for quite a number of years.

Agreed it is time to move their attention to other places than the Studios and Epcot. Glad to hear the Spaceship Earth will stick around.

"Marcie" is the very last person I would ever trust for accurate Disney information, but from time to time the gist of the story makes it through in her articles, even though it is bent and twisted in every direction and is loaded with a heavy dose of "spin." You can pretty much think of this as Disney killing off the rumors about Project Gemini (much like how the whole article was a nice way of squashing all rumors and anticipation of DL's 50th Anniversary), even though Project Gemini was really nothing more than a load of hyperbole and dreams of what should be anyway.

I would not be surprised if similar news comes out of Disney about Forbidden Mountain in the coming weeks.

The money NEEDS to be spent at EPCOT. Just not in this way.

Still, grizzly, this article would be bad news. There was no confirmation of how they were to use the money, whether to your liking or not, and now all we know is that they won't be spending any money on it.

I think its kinda bad news.......

Hopefully, it will be spent on something better (since it will probably be given to Disneyland): there is a lot they can use it as. And I can agree, it does seem a little risky, but based on what Project Gemini was rumored to be, and what this could possibly be used as, it seems much more positive in my eyes.

Basically, it was a changing of every pavilion besides (M:S, AA, and TT) to make them more appealing. Some rumors included putting Toy Story in Wonders of Life, Flik Playset at Imagination, Rollie Pollie Ollie in Innvonentions, Ariel in the Living Seas, and Monsters Inc in the Universe of Energy. Stuff like that to make it "fresh" and "new," but why wouldn't they spend this money to actually make a GOOD solid pavilion, like any of them were twenty years ago (complex, worthwhile, etc)...which means NOT a JII w/Figment...but more of a JII, ya know? :veryconfu

Got to disagree. In the past 5 years EPCOT has gotten Test Track, Mission Space, and Reflections of Earth- all which could be considered E-Tickets. I think it's much more needed at MK which has only gotten Pooh and Magic Carpets of Aladdin in the past 5 years, neither of which could be considered major addtions. EPCOT has had enough new attractions for now. Let's give some of the other parks some new additions. :D

Yeah...now without a sponsor... It will be neglected and probably fall into disrepair.

Funny how parks on this side of the pond that tend to be seasonal manage to add new rides etc without relying on sponsors.

And always good to see another quality positive post from the burning bird boy.:)

You're right. Dino-Ramma couldn't really be considered a major addition. AK could use a new e-ticket to boost attendance similar to when MGM got ToT.

Right... I am just going by Epcot's Future World history.... Horizions.... Living Seas, now sponsorless and neglected and ignored like a red headed step child...lol :)
