Project 971

Universal seems to have gone from bringing their A-Game to possessed.
That works for me just fine ;) Curious about the mystery project. Hope we get more info soon. I just so want Universal to continue to kick Disney's butt so maybe sometime it'll actually inspire real change. I just can't imagine the amusement the execs there must have watching their neighbor drag their feet on all major projects (or at least I'd be amused and if I were an imagineer, I'd be thinking about seeing if I could join the company that, you know, actually builds things at not snail pace...)

Only thing I'll miss from IFFF are the movie posters on the back wall. And can someone refresh my memory? Are they going to be working on the bathrooms between IFFF and Animal Actors?

Supposedly that entire building structure is being modified/demoed. I would expect the bathrooms to get a nice enhancement along with everything else going on in the area.

If that is the case, I would't be surprised if those bathrooms are demo'd. There are other bathrooms in the area between the spongebob store and E.T. I say demo them and add the space for whatever is replacing IFFF. Hopefully this doesn't take too long.

Sorry I've been reading around. What is replacing it exactly? Not only did IFFF serve guests but it was the main food location for the carts in Expo and Kidzone,Simpsons as well.

Spring 2013 - Project 971 / Simpsons - (11/15/12) New rumors about the Simpsons themed land are now growing in size and scope. The latest word around the park is that not only will we see a new Krusty Burger and Moe’s Tavern, there may also be a Kentucky Fried Panda (Finger Ling-Ling Good!) and possibly even a mini Duff Brewery bar set up on the lagoon edge.

The Simpsons expansion wont be limited to new restaurants either, as I’m told that we may also see other classic icons and building facades put in for Lard Lad donuts, the Comic Book Guy’s shop, and even some kind of new ride that may be themed to the aliens: Kang and Kodos placed near the bridge on the MIB side of the Simpsons ride building. I doubt Universal would install one of these, but a Gravitron could be perfectly themed to Kang & Kodos don’t you think?

The restaurants sound right (though I don't think anyone's said anything about a Kentucky Fried Panda or Duff Brewery - yet), and same for the building facades - but a Kang & Kodos ride sounds interesting. Perhaps a simple spinner? Sounds a bit more possible than a Ferris wheel.

I really hope what Screamscape is reporting is true. I'll stand by for confirmation. I don't tend to immediately write off anything from Screamscape as most due, but moreso take it for what it is: rumor.

Kang & Kodos near MIB is genius. Fits VERY well. I'm not sure why the Kentucky Fried Panda or Duff Brewery would go up when they would already have Krusty Burger & Moe's. Lard Lad would be a perfect sell for "Homer Donuts". What Simpson's fan could pass up a Krusty Burger meal, with a Flaming Moe & Homer Donut for dessert?!

UNI is winning my praise more & more every time I hear something new in the works. They are doing things EXTREMELY well right now!

I guess that one would be a burger restaurant, and one will be a chicken (what do they serve on The Simpsons at KFP?) restaurant. How much space/capacity to IFFF use/have?

Cosmic Rays has different sections to buy from - I wonder whether they could have a facade outside where one door gets you into Krusty Burger, one gets you into Kentucky Fried Panda and then have a big seating area behind them that would cover both restaurants? (although that wouldn't be "realisti/true to the theme"

I think seating was 2 or 300 inside and out.

By this you mean just like the BK, Panda, Express and Moes Southwest in city walk? One main entrance 3 different options?
