I had heard the rumored spot was to be in the former Triceratops encounter plot...to liven up and utilize the dead unused space, leaving the Thunder Falls spot for future expansion.

Also, I heard this was most likely going to be more of a family coaster.
Hmmmm, everythign I read said behind the Terrace... Looking at Google Maps, they have a huge area for JP and to me most of it can get leveled for a larger attraction, in my opinion of course...

awesome! Where would it go? Is it going to be an intense coaster like Hulk, Dueling Dragons or a family coaster like Space Mountain, Everest..

Supposedly its going where the Trikes are at. Not sold on it myself but thats the inside word. And it would be aimed at families to go toe to toe with the Snow white Mine Train which also will be opening in 2014.

Screamscape seems to backup/copy what has been said in here...

Screamscape said:
Spring 2013 - Project 971 / Simpsons - (9/10/12) According to Screamscape sources, we can expect to see the International Food Festival food court eatery next to The Qwik-E-Mart closed in the next few weeks in order to undergo a major transformation to become Simpsons themed. Rumor has it that we will see the addition of a true Krusty Burger and Moe’s Tavern appear here in time for late Spring 2013. I can only assume that we will see Universal take what they learned about adding custom food and beverage items from the Wizarding World and bring some tasty edible Simpsons items to life. Who else is up for a Flaming Moe?
Backing up this rumor is the confirmation from ParkScope back in late August that Universal filed a building permit for “Building 72” that would result in some partial demolition and area development. According to the permits, Universal has dubbed this as Project 971. Between the new themed restaurants and the Simpson themed midway games project, all blended in with the existing Simpsons ride and Kwik-E-Mart, Universal is going to have a rather nice little piece of Springfield.

Note that they aren't saying that the Qwik-E-Mart itself is closing, just the IFFF.

Could this mean that The Simpsons gets removed from World Expo and they create a new land called "Springfield"? Then, if/when Fear Factor is removed, maybe we could lose the "World Expo" name altogether?

What would happen to MIB then? As an avid Harry Potter fan, my mind is racing trying to think of a cool HP use of that ride system, but it doesn't seem probable. Plus, the MIB ride is a great ride as it is now.

I didn't mean that they should get rid of the MIB Ride - but rather the name of the area "World Expo".

MIB was set in New York, but it is too far away from the New York area in USF.

I guess that it would depend on what they would be using the Fear Factor area for. From the top of my head you could have something like "SciFi City" if the Fear Factor replacement was SciFi themed (like BTTF used to be).

Interestingly, Men in Black could possibly be seen as being "Marvel" now...

Oh I knew you weren't suggesting the removal of the ride, I am just curious about the theme and how they can fit that ride and the FFL replacement show into an entire land by itself. Hence why I would want to annex that entire section into more Harry Potter but I don't think that's in the best interest of the park.

If they did want to keep with the SciFi theme, they have two little known franchises that they could use (King Kong and BTTF). Can you imagine the fanfare if they brought back BTTF:The Ride in time for 2015 (won't happen as that's when HP2.0 opens) and/or something to do with King Kong (maybe the section from the Hollywood Backlot Tour)?

They could also do something with Hammer Horror and create a dark ride/Haunted house instead of the rumoured walkthrough!

King Kong is adventure fantasy, not sci-fi. And they already used BTTF. They got all of the use out of it they're ever going to.

They could also do something with Hammer Horror and create a dark ride/Haunted house instead of the rumoured walkthrough!

What rumored walkthrough? House of Horrors? That isn't happening. And despite distributing some of those films, I don't see why Universal would even consider using Hammer Horror for anything when they already have the older, infinitely more iconic horror characters of their own. Most Americans who aren't horror buffs probably haven't even seen the Hammer films. Or heard of them for that matter.

I know that KK isn't Sci-Fi (maybe I should have said Syfy ;) ), but I just meant in sci-fi/fantasy in general.
I know that they have already used BTTF, but it is one of the main 3 previous attractions that are complained about (Kong, BTTF, Jaws) - if Comcast have money to burn, then they could do a lot worse than bringing BTTF back (obviously cleaning it up/making it HD, possibly having less simulators in the ride than in the current Simpsons ride - 24?) And who wouldn't prefer to ride BTTF instead of watching Fear Factor?

I know that House of Horrors is not coming - I just said that it had been rumoured at one point, for whatever reason (whether to catch leaks, or whether it was actually being considered.), and fine, use their own characters (it wouldn't bother me either way) - it's just a genre that they have not really used in the parks on a year-round basis.

I think a BTTF launch coaster would make way more sense than bringing the simulator back. The coaster would be popular and last for a very long time without becoming dated.

As for Kong, I want him in a flume ride NOW! ;)

I'll take anything - based on how their projects are going lately, you know that it would likely be good!

As for Jaws, they could, if they ever decide to move the Wet 'n' Wild slides onsite, theme the entrance to Amity, they could have the tied-up shark from the park (or another one like it) as a photo op, they could have shark statues around the lazy river (like those you see at Blizzard Beach) - they could have real sharks at the park (obviously you couldn't swim with them - could you do a shark cage? - similar to SeaVenture), but I don't know whether the whole thing would be in bad taste and would be better left on the drawing board (maybe we could suggest it to WDW? ;) )

The Kwik E Mart is connected to the IFFF so I wouldn't be surprised to see a complete redo or demo of both the shop and restaurant. The restrooms there are pretty old too...looks like another good project to help freshen up the park!

So does that mean Mount Crumpit is off the table? They're probably going with JP, instead?

I really hope the Springfield rumor is true, because the Simpsons desperately need their own area to fit in with that side of the park. The way TSR is just plopped in the middle of World Expo looks incredibly out of place and tacky.

From what I have heard it is a retheming of the area but still not sure if it is gonna be a complete demo or jUst a gutting and retheming. I think theming the whole area to Springfield would be a great improvement to whAt is a pretty bland part of the park.
