Ummm...you obviously haven't been paying attention to Jay-Rod's posts...no way can I read that!! However, I looked in my own Atlas, just to verify my original statement. (I knew some one who worked in Hong Kong, so was relying on my memory of his mentioning a ferry to the mainland...which made me think it must be on an island.)

Hope the edit helps. Sorry, but I got tired of hunting my glasses every time I wanted to get on the computer, so I got a 19 inch monitor. I forget not everyone has a larger screen monitor.

I think some of you have failed to notice that the grip of communism in china has slackened and its a massive market, Jaguar are selling lots of high price cars, UK home improvement stores are opening all the time as consumerism spreads it would be logical to assume taht there will be an increase in vacations, thus the resort may be a good piece of buisness.

Mind you it could all be destroyed by that asteroid thats going to hit the earth in 8 years or so.

I don´t really know what you are all discussing in this thread, I have just read this last page... please excuse me. Hong Kong is indeed an island. My former roommate lives there and she has told me how they live there in apartment buildings because there is no land. "Normal" people don´t own a car basically because it is very expensive to find a parking spot and pay for it, since there are not many land spaces "wasted" to park cars.

However, they have all the technology available for everybody, and a very modern city. Some people wear the latest in fashion too! You would never think you are in China! :animwink:

Maria, I'm not sure ANYONE knows what they're discussing in this thread anymore! But people were starting to get testy....I would much rather laugh at snapper's comments, or go drifting away! ;)

LOL Mom! I never read the first post and keep seeing how this thread grows bigger and bigger and since it has too many pages already I just felt lazy to do it! However, the last page about Hong Kong was good.

What was it? Boy or girl?

You wouldn´t believe the news that was on he news here yesterday... they talked about how women are more attractive to men if they wear more "decent" and covered outfits! Of all there is to inform, they talk about that!

Maria...thanks for joining the discussion...you always brighten every thread you join!.:p

Only Hong Kong Island is an island. If you look at the map that No2Apprentice posted (THANK YOU!) the arrow points at the Island, which is the population center of the "country" which has massive population density. There is a good chunk of are on the peninsula to the north that is undeveloped mountain area. Lantau island, the island to the west of Hong Kong Island and location of Hong Kong Disneyland also is very undeveloped other than the new airport and HKD

Thanks a lot for the explanation! Now I wonder why the population doesn´t move to those areas! Why everybody on the same one? hehe... guess it´s the same as with Mexico City... :animwink:

So wait, is the asteroid going to hit in 8 years or not? This is important to me since if the world is ending in 8 years I will not try to pay off my mortgage early (may even skip the last few payments).

Puts on serious head for a moment,

I cant believe this was not reported in the US, it was carried by all major news networks here.
They reported a large asteroid was on its way, I cant remember the timescale but around the 8 - 12 year mark sticks in my head, they gave all this blurb about doomsday etc and interviewed the astronomers involved in its discovery. They (skywatchers)finished the interview by saying there was no need to panic because the margin of error was so big.

But the down side is im sure if you check your insurance policys asteroids are in the exclusions, as is war, which is a bit of a bummer if your in the military. Id be right up poo kreek if I were hit by an asteroid on a battlefield.:hammer:
