Priority Seating @ resorts?

I have done the World many times but I’m a newbie to the Disney resorts. I noticed another thread today that talks about Priority Seating at various restaurants around the resorts and parks.<o =""></o>

I was surprised to see a suggestion that Priority seating should be made for all resort restaurants 90 days out . I understand this for characters meals but is this true for the resorts as well?<o =""></o>

I’m right at the 90 day window (yah! – June 5 – 11) so is this something I need/should do? BTW, we are staying at Port Orleans Riverside. (if that makes a difference.<o =""></o>

Thanks,<o =""></o>

definately for Character Dining.....Cinderella's castle, Chef Mickey's, etc. We absolutely LOVE 50's Prime Time in the Disney Studios and we always book the 90 days out. Don't rely on going without a priority seating.......sometimes the wait can be hours or sometimes they can't seat you at all! I would DEFINATELY take advantage of the 90 days!!

We always book priority seating in resort restaurants. It's so helpful and sometimes it's so hard at 90 days out to get priority seating at your fav. resort rest. so I'd deff. do so!

Some resort restaurants are VERY popular. Even Boatwright's Dining Hall can get busy, because it's the only restaurant for both Port Orleans Riverside AND Port Orleans Dixie Landings. Over 3000 rooms, and that's the only close-by sit-down restaurant. Plus you're going at the start of a busy season, so the World might be packed.

Others will add their two cents but I would say get PS if you're planning on dining at:

California Grill at the Contemporary
Boma or Jiko at Animal Kingdom
Whispering Canyon @ Wilderness Lodge
'Ohana's at Polynesian
Any of the Boardwalk's restaurants

Worst case scenario and you change plans and don't make PS? I don't think any of the regular resturants in the resorts charge a cancellation fee (I think the only exception is Victoria & Albert's).

I would agree with what everyone alreaday stated. I just completed all my PS for the week of May 23rd.

I was able to get a PS for every place, but had to adjust my perferred time on a few. We are trying food at many restaurants around different resorts, to determine where to stay on future visits.

Cinderella's castle is a must. I called 4 hours into day 90 and only was able to get a 5:05 seating. At least I got in, calling a day later and I would not be dinning there.

Hi there Bill, You have chosen a GREAT resort. I love Riverside and will be staying there agian in 14 days!!!! Dont forget to give Boatwright's a try for breakfast as soon as possible into your vacation. This place has a great alacarte breakfast!!!! And it is a nice quiet peaceful way to start the day as opposed to the craziness that can sometimes be a food court!!!! As far as PS they are always a great idea. I cant tell you the number of times that i have seen people get turned away from a restaurant because they werent taking walk ups!!! That having been said I dont know if PS need to be made exactly at 90 days in advance, unless you are talking about some of the harder to get reservations such as Cinderella's Royal Table for Breakfast or Princess Storybook for breakfast in Norway. Most of the other meals I havent had a problem with especially as I tend to go at not so busy times in the year. Hope this helps!! Any other questions, post them and Ill be glad to help!!! Belle

I agree with Wannabelle completely. Depends on where you want to eat. We always make a PS for dinner. Sometimes I only call a couple weeks in advance. One time, while standing on line for the TOT at 10:30am we decided we wnted to have lunch at the Brown Derby. I called on my cell phone and made a PS for 2:20. If you call at the last minute you really have to be flexible about the time and of course you run the risk of not getting in at all. :slurp:

Well put M. Racer, the sooner you make a PS the more flexibility you have in terms of getting the times you want. If you are a party of 2 or 4 I wouldnt be so concerned with doing it exactly 90 days in advance, but I would definitely make them as soon as your plans for the trip are set and you have some idea as to where you are going to be on what days. If you have a larger party I would tell you to make the ressies as soon as you can so as to insure to get all your party in together. The bottomom line is though definitely make the PS for all of your sit down meals so as not to be shut out in case it happens to be a more crowded time!!! Belle

PS and Dining Plan

If you make a PS and charge the deposit to your credit card do you need to use that same credit card to pay for the meal or can you use your dining plan?

In most cases a PS does not require a credit card deposit. There are a few places including any of the Princess breakfasts, that do. When the bill comes for your table the amount of the deposit will be taken off the final bill and you can pay your bill any way you prefer, be it cash, credit card ( the one you put your deposit on or another) Charge the amount back to the room etc. Hope this helps!! Also the Fantasmic Packages require a credit card - but they don't charge anything to the card unless you're a no show and don't cancel within 48 hours... :)
