Printing Photos at Disney - FYI

Greetings all. I learned something tonight I want to share with everyone. I was at the world last week with the family. We took pictures with our digital camera and printed out pics at the camera shop on Main Street.

Tonight, I went to a local Super type store to reprint the photo that I took, but they wouldn't let me scan it and reprint it. It prints out with a Disney Copyright (on the back of the photo). I am not mad, I understand, but I took the pic with my camera, just printed it out at WDW which apparently seems to put a copyright on all things printed there according to a CM I spoke with on the phone.

If I wouldn't have erased the memory card, it wouldn't be a problem!

Just passing along the info. Like I said, not mad, just sharing what happened to me.

We had a blast on the trip though! Nothing like getting your five your old niece to ride Space Mountain for the first time!

LAME!

You can always use a Kodak machine, scan it yourself, and then reprint it. It's a little more work, but certainly a way to make additional copies if need be.

I've never heard that before - that is REALLY dumb. Copyrighting photos YOU took with YOUR camera?

If you have a scanner at home, scan the photos you want reprints of, upload them to shutterfly or kodak, etc and have the copies mailed to you.

You're nicer than me. I would have been mad

I'm glad you had a great trip and I think a lot of us could learn something from your positive attitude :o

yeah walmart did the same thing to my girlfriend. I took her graduation photos to save her some money and we set up a backdrop in my sisters room and I got out my tripod and took the photos and then gave my girlfriend the sd card. she gets to walmart and the lady refused to print them, my girlfriend was ed off and called me, I had to drive to walmart and sign that i was the one that took the photos because they said they were professionally taken. Made me feel good but I think this whole Digital Mill. Copyright act crap is crazy and yes thats what they will quote to you if you ask them why you cant print a photo, they say its against the DMCA retarded uh.:hurl::hammer:

Thats the craziest thing I have ever heard of!!!! Was there a sign or somthing to warn you that if you were to print photos off of this machine that it automatically becomes copyrighted by disney....if there isnt then theres a big big problem...

Also, arent those machines there so that YOU can print off photos of Your vacation??? what if I had on that card some pictures of Universal or Sea World and wanted to print them off in the store, would those prints to be filed under disneys copyright?...The person before said it best...YOU are alot nicer person than I am!!!Radiohost:cool:

That's not right! You took your own photos. What if your pictures were not even Disney related?

Unless, was those photos printed on special paper or done with a special process or something?

I've had to sign copyright releases at Walmart a million times. They are always hassling my family when they try to get prints of pictures I've taken. It's annoying. Now I have releases on file at several Walmarts.

I worked at a photo lab for a major retail chain. If the paper the picture is printed on has a copyright of any kind on it most place will not print it. So if you scan it at home (and the border doesn't have a copyright on it) they should be able to print it for you.

So if there is any copyright on it they're not suppose to print it.

Hmm...that is strange that Disney would do that.

However, that's also why I don't erase pics off my camera unless I know that I was never going to use it for anything and/or had saved it to a CD already. I always have the just in case ideology.

It's crazy. I had to dig out the scanner last night and buy ink. That's why I didn't just scan it to begin with, I had to buy a USB cable and ink... That was a purchase that was more than $70 when I just wanted $10 in pictures!

I'm going back to MK on Sunday and tell them what happened. I'm not going to be so nice, but I'm not going to be mean either.

Happy Friday everyone!
