Princess Elena of Avalor’s Royal Welcome

Is it in addition to Mickey's Royal Friendship Faire?

Hope it doesn't feel too promotional. As for the show itself, it sounds like a segment of MRFF: some characters introduce a friend, they exchange lines, and then that character does a song. I'm not a huge fan, but it's something.

And so if this is in addition to MRFF, well then, it's a little extra something.

I did see that they are going to change up MRFF for the different seasons. If its tied in to the show then I will be okay with it. But if its replacing it...I will be sad.

This will be in addition to MRFF! How about that adding entertainment! Two castle shows, Trolley show, Move It Shake It, Festival of Fantasy, MS Philharmonic, DEP, that's a lot of entertainment going on in the hub!

So is this their way of getting around giving her a M&G, like they're doing with Judy & Nick in the Move It/whatever-it's called now?

Not complaining about a new/temp entertainment offer just wondering.

Just because a meet and greet hasn't been initially announced doesn't mean it's not going to happen.

If this is in the mk where would it even go.

I hope they don't move Merida. Her archery thing is fun for kids to do while waiting in line.

They need to get the REAL characters out. As mentioned, Esmerelda would be awesome, Megara is another I'd love to see on a more frequent basis.

Another question I have then is... Since Elena is going to be a face character, why was Sofia not one?

I don't think its been stated exactly why Elena is a face character, but it is said to be because Elena is more of an adult and Sophia is a kid. Which kinda makes sense.
Also, from my understanding of the current plans, Elena and Sofia will not be appearing together. Elena is in MK and Sofia is in DHS, so though they are connected by shows, they will not likely be together in person anytime soon. Also most of the Princesses have appeared on Sofia's show, but they have all remained face characters in the parks.

I'm just hoping this Elena bit is running through to October so my nieces can see her!

The debut at WDW is today, and they're showing it on the various Disney social media accounts (facebook, etc.). It started off a little slow ("Look kids, executives!"), but now Elena just came out, and there seems to be a good reaction from the crowd.

I'm kind of confused why they didn't just use this as a segment for MRFF. It's formatted exactly like a MRFF segment, it'd get Cinderella back onto her castle stage (one of the only criticisms about MRFF as far as I can tell), and it'd pad out the show for an extra 5 minutes. On top of that, it's all live so it'd be an easily replaced segment. I don't know, maybe I'm looking too far into this but with the announcement of seasonal segments, I just wonder why they don't use Cinderella and Elena for their fall segment and be done with it.
