I do wish they could do Indy, but he is an Archeologist not a Paleontologist.

Now it would be cool if they redid Dinosaur as Indy and did the whole land up that way, but the only way that would be able shoehorn into AK is to make the land about the most dangerous animal.... MAN!
That would be fantastic...and ties into the logging disaster at Kali.

There is H.G. Wells and 20’s/50’s inspired sci-fi theming in Tomorrowland.
You are thinking Paris on the Wells' stuff.
The 50s is left over from the "Future that Never Was" concept that they tried in the 90s, but never got past Astro Orbiter with.
Unfortunately, if they had never touched Tomorrowland from its original design, and just done a lighting upgrade when LEDs became cheap a few years ago, it would look far more modern than it does today.

So what is really the story here? They are waiting for a fix for something (almost like a recall on cars) that is mechanically wrong with the ride system/or vehicle?

As I have said before in this thread, I think they are awaiting a fix for the restraints following the accident that happened in the UK.

There isn't a 'recall' as I am not aware of any other versions of this attraction being closed since the accident but I understand that Disney is 100% more cautious due to the potential reputational damage should it reoccur even though though the chance of a similar accident is likely ten million to one.

Well the U.K. ride is also closed. Obviously.

Will Disney be fixing this themselves and re-testing? Or will they wait for the inquiry in the U.K. to determine what happened first? I don’t know what their procedure would normally be in these cases.

I don't want to turn the thread in speculation however I think there are two most probably causes for the accident:
1) the child wasn't tall enough
2) the child was sat next to someone of large body dimensions and managed to slip under or over the shared bar

I would say 2 is the most likely and the most obvious solution to this would be an individual restraint or seatbelt.

The “The Future that Never Was” theme is what should’ve been expanded upon and kept because it’s timeless. People can visit ‘70s Tomorrowland in Tokyo lmao.

Let's say they decide to remove Primeval Whirl, but for now they keep the rest of the area as Dino-rama....what would be a good replacement ride?

My adult DD who is #100 and 5’4” over a year ago said she didn’t feel safely secure in the vehicle and there was too much slack said it was like the loose Indy car feel of free movement. Got off and said never again.

I don’t know how it could be recalled as the company according to UK articles has been out of business for a long time. So recalled by who? Parts for this ride are hard to come by give the lack of original source.

It is a guess but I am speculating the ride operators that still keep this model open are brainstorming and engineering their own fixes similar to the additional safety fences in the previous accidents if I am recalling correctly. It would be so horrid if this attraction claimed another life. And I’m sure that is the good judgement Disney is exhibiting.

It is dated but draws people, like TS Island 🌴 or TR. I guess a cheap attraction is better than no attraction. Dinoland would be better if they had, say, a Jurassic Park feel, which they obviously can’t do. Or a new theme for that spot.
