I have not been to WDW in 2 years now (we used to go on a more frequent basis, but started branching out for family vacations, and my wife and I no longer go to F&W ever since they nerfed it post-COVID).

We have DVC, so we don't really look at room costs
Airfare is what it is - not something Disney can control
I went to get tickets, using my discounted rate via work. All I can say is I think these prices are insane. Having gone on vacation to some other places, I have to say WDW is way overpriced. We have booked all-inclusives for less.

I still remember my first trip to WDW in 2018, with 2 adults and 1 kid… it was about $1000 for 4 days.

Just got back from a trip with 3 “adults” and 1 kid (oldest is now 10+). It was about $2800 for 8 days. So not apples to apples, but even looking at just a. 4 day base ticket now, it’s $2400 for 4 people. Plus LL. I was pretty sticker shocked to say the least. Still, people are going - including this sucker apparently!

I’m trying to figure out how 8 days cost $2800?

Who’s your travel agent? 🤪

Sorry to hear that, Dave

Turning off loyalists is terrible business and really ticks me off 🤬

Actually the worst…the catalyst for the events that are really wrecking the place today
If I remember correctly -

2018 was better, well before the pandemic. I think, 2018 and 2019 could possibly could have been called the peak popularity of WDW.

Disney used the pandemic as an excuse to make drastic changes; the shutdowns actually started March 2020.

Well that’s better…don’t make me slap you 😡

But as far as tickets go…the policy is way wrong there. It should be a gateway to get people there and get them in a good mood to keep spending

It’s a deterrent more and more
At the end of the day, I can’t really say I felt like it was a worse value this time around. Equal, maybe. But I attribute this to an “absence makes the heart grow fonder” effect. Doing everything there felt like doing it for the first time again.

Or maybe I’m just screwed up in the head!

That’s fair…

But they’ve begun to squeeze every grape at every turn…in this case giving almost no benefit to staying longer/hopping…

That’s not how they built the profit engine there. Which is indicative of execs that are ready to hit the door whenever it turns…and that really sucks

Behind the scenes…that’s not correct

Mandates went out around to 2018 to stop discounting/offering good deals to spur travel going forward.

There are a few myths about downturns in the swamp

The “9/11” slowdown was in full swing long before September…

And the “Covid reset” had nothing to do with wages going up and inflation…it was a directive that started way before masks and ubereats

Whatever the reasons, in my opinion, 2018 was better than today at WDW.

Our upcoming Saturday to Saturday vacation at a Mexican all-inclusive is $2600.

ETA: This is for 2 adults, not a family, to be transparent.
