prices dropping

Just went on to jetblue.com yesterday and the price of our flights had dropped drastically. So I called and got $204 in credits to book another flight in the next year! My in-laws that are joining us the second day of our trip got $260 in credits.

So we decided to check on our car rental as well and rebooked at a savings of $80.

I am so psyched!!!!!!!!

Just figured I would let you all know so that maybe you too can save some money!

I know you can do this with jetblue and airtran, not sure about other airlines. We booked these tickets with $120 in credits I had from an earlier trip.

44 days to go :xmas::sohappy:

Thanks! I just booked a last minute trip on Friday and got fares from New York (Westchester) to Orlando at $79 and $74 the way back!
Never flown on JB before, should be interesting!~

I just did this on Southwest. We saved $160, but the catch is that you have to fly using those credits by the original purchase date. So I bought the tickets at the end of June for December. I adjusted the price today. But I need to travel before the end of June or lose the money. I thought you just had to purchase before the expiration date.

It appears that we can use the credits to buy a ticket for someone else, so we should be able to use them. But look at the fine print. As a family of four we only go once a year now because the airfare is so high. If my dad didn't travel so much we'd probably be screwed.

I just looked at mine though SW and its a $23 drop each person.

So if I call will I get a total $69 credit or is a credit for each person?
I did the booking

not sure how this works

I did the booking

not sure how this works

If all three people are on the same reservation (i.e. their bookings are under the same 6-digit confirmation code), then it will be a single $69 credit referenced to that 6-digit code. If they were booked separately, it would be $23 on each confirmation code.

When you go to book your future travel using that credit, during checkout you'd enter it as "ticketless travel funds" using that 6-digit code and the person's name on the credit card used to purchase the original tickets.

Also, you can use those credits toward anyone's ticket. If you want to give your credits to a friend to use, you just have to provide them with the Conf# and name info for them to use in their booking.

Also be aware that when you use credit such as these, any *additional* money you pay toward the new flights will also have the same expiration as the credits. So if your credit expires on June 30, you use it on March 1 toward a $100 ticket, and then cancel that new booking, all $100 will expire on June 30. (All money and credits paid toward a plane fare takes on the restrictions of the most-restrictive source)

Jetblue expires a year from the date that you are issued the credit. So my credit expires a year from Halloween. I only need to book by next Halloween not travel by then. Airtran is the same way.

Grrrr...rechecked our flights for January and the rates haven't changed. I'll keep checking back. Never hurts to hold onto credits for future travel.

I've been running into a similiar situation with our Februrary flight. I have a feeling it might go down a little. I typically don't wait til the last minute to book flights but I'll see if December might have some discounts before I get desperate and book now. *keeps fingers crossed*

HI - I fly on JB from HPN (Westchester) all the time and love it! Small local airport with short security lines. I'm leaving for WDW on December 1st.:xmas:

Thanks for the savings

Thanks for the heads up on the savings with Jet Blue! I just called and was able to save a total of $65. It's not a lot because we had pretty good prices to start, but I'll take what I can get.

Kudos to all of you for sharing the savings tips! :sohappy:

BTW, Another fan of HPN here it is really an awesome and easy airport. Unfortunately this time we are using JFK. Hopefully next trip we can use HPN again.

Thanks again for the tip!

I checked on my flight with US Air, and it has gone down by $100 for the 4 of us, but there's a $150 charge for changes made to reservations. I guess I'll just keep checking.

We booked our flights through Travelocity...flying Airtran...price has dropped...Travelocity will not budge...GRRRRRR! Airtran said there is nothing they can do for us since we purchased from Travelocity!
Moral of story...book direct from airline and don't ever use Travelocity:(
