Price hike coming 10/9

I will take your word for it regarding price and walking distance but for my knowledge what are we talking about? $20 a night? How long is walk?
a random day in October I can get the Wyndham on Priceline for $110 with all fees (no parking) and the all stars is $156 - so it’s $46 a night difference if parking isn’t needed.

The walk from the Wyndham to Earl of Sandwich is about .2 miles - about the same as the furthest buildings at All Stars to the food court.
Overall we went with the Hilton for a few reasons:
I’ve stayed at the Hilton a few times, they do give you some bottles of water and drip coffee for the “resort fee” so it’s at least something. If it was cheaper I’d still go with all stars personally. But I kinda like the theming personally so there is that haha

Yeah, I think the biggest things were King bed, walk to DS, bigger room. No idea if this will outweigh the disney theming of all stars. Again, very fortunate that I know I will be back to Disney soon, so testing out and finding the right hotel for my family is worth the test!

So one thing to remember - the all stars can fill up because of tour groups - if the all stars are full your cheapest on property option will probably be $220 with tax so now it’s like $110 a night difference so $550 for 5 nights.
Going down the Rabbit hole you can usually go even cheaper.
Off property Fairfield Inn & Suites Orlando Lake Buena Vista includes breakfast and free parking, often for ~$80 a night

Then you can go further down with things like Super 8, Maingate Lakeside resort, or Roadway Inn which I see for ~$40 a night on a random October day (no idea what the resort fees and stuff are). Finally There are also Airbnb room rentals going for less than $50 a night in the area.

Okay so 15 minutes is not bad imo if say adults but if you are traveling with young kids can be going that route… i just dk if the cost savings are really worth it. Like what are we looking at for a 5 night stay? $100? $150? Best case? It your margins are that thin for a vacation. Probably best you dont go and save it.
Oh, I think the margins are a bit more than that. First of all, Wyndham does get you early entry and technically they have their own free shuttle to the parks as well, so you don't always have to walk to SSR if you don't want to. Here's an example of the price difference, picking a random week in May, 5/4 - 5/9 (trying to emulate low season midweek here):

1. On Priceline, Wyndham Lake Buena Vista is $742.55 all-in with taxes and fees;
2. The cheapest disney room showing as available for that same time period is Pop Century (All stars not bookable for some reason?): $1,188.01

9/15 - 9/20
1. All Stars Sports: $963.64 all in.
2. WLBV: $642.15 all in.

The differences become more pronounced when you start looking at mid and higher seasons.

Just to put a finer point on it, if you took advantage of the ticket deal this summer, you could have done 4 park days for a family of four about $1600ish in tickets. WLBV for four nights would have run you about $500ish all in. If you were relatively frugal with food, didn't buy the upcharge line skips, etc., you could still do a Disney trip for around $3,000ish for a family of four depending, of course, on how you got there in the first place.

$300 is a nice savings over 5 nights i would agree but again if $300 is making or breaking you assuming you dont park like you said to me is still cutting it close. The walk and extra work tho also needs to be a factor but strictly money wise $60 w night is nice

That's why Costco and Sams continues to be booming. It is more cost effective to buy in bulk. And if you really wanted to save more $$ it requires a change in mindset. Forget the soda and drink ice cold tap water.
I used that example because it's more of a "luxury item" like a trip to WDW. More people need to save money by doing the things you suggest with respect to soft drinks. Therefore, it makes sense that more people need to do the same when it comes to entertainment and vacations.

We can now.
Yay! For anyone wondering about Disney Springs Hotels - the 2 Hiltons and the Wyndham are basically right across the street from Disney Springs - I’m old enough to remember dodging traffic at the crosswalk so I’m very thankful for the Pedestrian bridges.

The other Springs hotels get to be a little bit of a walk - but they are doable.

For me, I don’t see the value in the deluxe hotels anymore - I love to visit Animal Kingdom Lodge especially but the value is not there anymore.

Moderates are when I splurge - I love Port Orleans Riverside just as much as AKL - it oozes charm.

Also I’ll say it… I’d rather fly down first class and stay at a value - all of the hotels at Disney are clean and safe - that’s what I care about most so if I have some extra cash to spend I’ll spend it on comfort in the air or on the rails.
