Premium Parking coming to Walt Disney World's parking lots?

Wow. I actually thought we'd see this full of people paying through the nose for a somewhat useless service. I guess Disney did too. :)

Perhaps if it was actually a premium experience they would have, For the price one would think that Disney could add a special jitney like bell services uses to ferry the premium customers to the park gate. instead its the typical Today's Disney scam slap a price tag on something that used to be free and call it a 'Premium Experience' glad people are wising up.

It is slightly amusing to watch this thread to see how many people will make a dinner reservation just to park and go the parks saying that it is never enforced. We have several enforcement issues in the city where I work and we are told not to enforce them. One day, someone decided that those did need to be enforced and low and behold, everyone started screaming that they were never stopped for that or cited before. Well, we had to start somewhere, and those that have gotten accustomed to getting away with things got a rude awakening.

Funny you mention that. Today the resorts are handing out paper slips if you are dining at the resort. The slip says valid for 3 hours. I wonder when they will start enforcing that time limit and towing people.

Yesterday I parked at the Contemporary without a dining reservation at all. Security guard had no issues letting me in, and didn't give me a parking slip either. All I did was stick my photo ID out my window and he said "parking is to the left."

Depends on the time of year for sure. A weekday in April is easy; a Saturday in June I doubt they let anybody in without a reservation.

Also depends on the resort. Contemporary and Beach Club are always the toughest to park in, but resorts like Coronado Springs or Caribbean Beach are easy to get into even during peak season.

We visit resorts a lot....

I got one at the Poly. I assumed it would be for all monorail resorts at the very least. Maybe they are testing.

I got a 3-hour slip for breakfast last week at the Poly. We came back later in the week to drop our kids at the kids club and go to Trader Sam's before dinner and the guard just waved us in to park.

Are they giving resort guests papers to leave in their vehicles? I didn't see other cars with anything.

I don't think anybody disagrees that the process of getting from the MK back to the TTC is a nightmare. I, like many locals, don't go the MK as much now, if at all, because of it. Getting to the park is easy, it usually takes me under 20 minutes from car to front gate. But the way back is always a disaster, usually exceeding 45 minutes. Then I have a minimum 35 minute drive home to the north side of Orlando without any disasters on i-4, which there usually are at least a few. Knowing that when I leave the Magic Kingdom gates it could potentially take two hours to get home is a massive buzzkill to any (remaining) magic that can be found in the MK.

I really like how the parking lot is set well away from the MK just because it makes it feel that much more in a world of it's own.

That being said, I know what you're saying about the trip back. I've been at the end and thought, "Well, it's at least 45min just to get to the car.. Probably longer since it's the end of the night and there's the rush.. We'll be back in the hotel room and maybe finally getting to bed around 2+ hours from now.." It's just exasperated when the monorail isn't fully functioning.

I still like that the parking lot is well away. I wish they'd do something about the lights in the parking lot so that it lights up the lot well but it's this orange "nuclear strike" glow that can be seen from the Contemporary or Poly. It seems like lower poles, but maybe more of them, with LEDs would be a nice upgrade.

When those lights were installed, the concept of "light pollution" likely didn't even exist, and they did what was possible to lighten the lots up as much as possible given the available technology.

I agree a redesign of the lighting would be nice, but of all the problems that WDW has today, I think it is pretty low on the list of priorities, both for guests and management.

Agreed. If they were going to do this they may as well update the TTC while they're at it - which looks very 1970s and utilitarian.

Same deal - this is really low on the priorities.

Noticed today that AK now has premium parking, for only $35/car. At least they're consistent. And there were probably 50 or so cars in the lot, so it's probably making money.

A certain "popular" instgram/youtube/periscope "Disney vlogger" got super premium parking at the Contemporary Resort a couple weeks ago. I guess the new and cool thing to do is enter the cast parking area through the exit........

Just scrolling through some comments, we may be in the minority. It may also depend on the situation, but I would actually use this, since it makes it a little easier with 2 kids. Entering the park it may not be a big deal, but after a long day, it would be a relief to be right in the front. especially if we travel with my wife's family and split the cost. If it were just my wife and I, we probably wouldn't use it. Like all other up-charges at DW, if you don't want to do it, don't.

I really don't understand this. It's like finding a spot close to the entrance of a mall where you'll be spending several hours walking around it. Except at a mall, you don't pay for a spot up close. What's the point? You do a lot of walking at WDW.

Has anyone posted an overhead map of the each of the lots and highlighted the areas that are now premium? I'm more of a visual person.
