Predictions on when evening hours and nighttime shows can resume?

A couple days ago, Disney was testing projections onto Cinderella’s Castle, along with the spotlights surrounding it. From the video, the show being ran definitely looks like Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks. Could this mean they plan on making its return soon during the holidays?

Video link and Source from BlogMickey:

It’s interesting they chose this show to test the projections as oppose to Happily Ever After.

It certainly is projections from Minnie's Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks. - around the 10 second mark looks to be the Carol of the Bells projection segment from the show, which is about the 2 minute 15 second mark of the actual show from last year.

So what could this mean? MVMCP still going to happen? Or Minnies Wonderful Christmastime being nightly?

I do find it interesting that they haven't made any official announcements regarding the event, even as much as a cancellation. However, if there is not MVMCP, I do hope that they incorporate this show and some other holiday inspired entertainment as their regular offering from Thanksgiving to around NYE, as a special bit of magic to celebrate the holidays and end the year with.

Does anyone know the total production cost for a nightly showing of HEA in comparison to MWCTF (not sure if that's the correct acronym or not) either with or without the perimeter locations?
Without perimeter fireworks, MWCTF is definitely cheaper. It has more stop and pause moments as opposed to HEA's few (before Go The Distance and before finale/end narration).

As for speciality fireworks, like shapes and effects, I wanna say MWCTF has the edge, but it could be just about the same. MWCTF definitely has more castle/low pyro.

The biggest difference is length, HEA is 18 mins with 3 main rest sections (previously said plus beginning narration) versus MWCTF of 12 mins with 5 narrated rest sections.

It could be testing for a projection only B-Mode. Disneyland has had quite a few show versions for their recent firework shows (Full, Cutback, Projection only, Shortened, etc). If the guests are the same as DLR, they can do a no-pyro show multiple times a night without a large crowd build up. Might be easier to test in the Christmas "hard ticket" event where they could reduce the show crowds further, even something as simple as assigning which time the ticket could view.

At Disneyland the weekday version of Mix Magic was a projection only show, that was somewhat decent on Main Street with the how many varied effects aside from pyro the show can bring to bear. Lasers, lights, projections, and snow/bubbles were sufficiently dense to create something closer to a concert experience.

It is still worse than a full pyromusical, but it would be a way to test the night show waters and give the Christmas event something extra.

There's probably little need to test pyro, but castle projections are likely necessary at some point considering the new paint colors. I'm not reading into this as anything other than covering bases in event a Christmas show gets a green light. If not, they'll have it adjusted and ready for 2021

I think now would be a great time to remind everyone that Universal was already casting scare actors for HHN when the decision was made to pull the plug on it. I know WDW wants MVMCP to happen and is planning for every possible outcome. One of those possibilities is a full cancellation. As @marni1971 has said time and time again, it will only happen once it's deemed safe. We should know by the end of September or early October. Also, in response to the dreamlights, they will probably be installed regardless of whether there's an event. They attract visitors even without the Christmas Parties.

If MVMCP returns this year, call me Ishmael.

Honestly, I think Disney would have very good success with hosting the MVMCP's this year. Many reports coming out that a vaccine will be starting to come out in early November, which will ease peoples minds. And also, I just think that the "Christmas / Holiday vibe" is something that many Americans would really like after this horrible year we've all been through. Going to a place that feels safe, walking down Main Street USA with Christmas music playing and snow falling, bringing you and your family back to a more normal time "mentally" is very appealing. Its up to Disney to just figure out the logistics now.

Even if a vaccine is ready by early November it’s going to take months to get enough people vaccinated to potentially impact safety restrictions. 2 of 3 front runners right now also require 2 injections a month apart so it could be upwards of 3-6 months from the time they start injecting the first people until everyone who wants it gets one.

I agree 100% that what most people need right now is something like WDW at the holidays. It’s very possible travel will pick up even if safety restrictions are still in place.

Vaccine will be available by the end of the year and before 2021. But as you said it will take months to start transitioning back to a normal way of life. I still think late spring or summer 2021 we start seeing more expanded offerings at Disney and elsewhere in the world. I can't see them delaying any further, they're going to use the vaccine (regardless of it's success or efficacy) as their excuse to more forward with their plans (same for all other industries).

Disney utilized coordinated drones for shows in addition to lasers and pyrotechnics. Drone shows can be done without a need for darkness, I am sure the imaginEars can work the details out . Just saying based on demonstrated Disney technology there is a possibility for additional entertainment pre-laser and pyrotechnic shows. With longer nights and shorter daylight hours coming it would be beneficial entertainment value to get the laser and pyrotechnic shows going again. As it stands now crowds are not an issue.

No one can possibly know when any vaccine will be available. No Phase III trials have even injected all participants, let alone reported results one way or another. Science can only move so quickly. I certainly HOPE there is one readily available within 6 months.

BTW, the launch sites for surround fireworks appear to have had there tubes removes.
Those tubes normally site there all year around when not in use.

Maybe that's something, maybe that's nothing.
"Appear"? Pictures, link, rumor source etc? Normally unused tubes have a cap on them which is removed when the shell is loaded then a paper cap is installed (sometimes).
If you remove the whole battery there is nothing to fire from but they are mounted on racks so a couple of trucks out and a couple of trucks in then you have newer, cooler (larger) tubes.
I wonder if this will ever see the light of day.
