Just got this e-mail message from Charlie, the associate pastor from my church here in Richmond, and I thought you all may be interested. I do not know whether they were actually going to WDW, or just to Florida overall, but it occurred to me to pass it on to my friends here who would understand how devastating and scary this could be.

You can never have enough prayers...

Here is the text of the associate pastor's e-mail, dated Monday, May 24, 2004 ...

Please be in prayer for Adrianna Montero, who is a close friend of Nancy Crump’s. She was critically injured in a car accident yesterday in Florida where she and her husband were vacationing. She has bleeding in her brain along with multiple fractures of facial bones and other injuries. Pray that she may be healed and survive this accident.

Yours in Christ,

Charlie

No news yet, but thank you all for the prayers.

I do not believe the husband was hurt, but I will probably find out more soon (if not on Sunday).

I am sorry to say that the lady did not make it. I am sure that her family and friends appreciate your prayers. Right now it appears that her husband might need them most.

Here is the e-mail from Bruce Crump (a drummer and worship leader at the church):

Dear Church Family,

It is with deepest regret that I inform you that Nancys' co-worker of seven years at Godiva Salon passed away late Thursday. As you may know from Charlie's e-mail, Adrianna and her husband Bill were traveling home from vacation in Florida when Bill went to change lanes and failed to see another vehicle in his blind spot. When he realized his error, he over-corrected and lost control of the vehicle. The car then went over an embankment where it rolled 4 times. Adrianna suffered severe head injuries and never regained consciousness.

Please pray for the family - they have two grown daughters, Denise and Donna, and especially for Bill. He is extremely distraught - not only over the loss of his wife but because he blames himself for her death.

In Christ,

Bruce Crump

I am sure that this family appreciates your prayers. I will pass it on to Bruce and Charlie as I see them.

Not only is it nice to know that you can share thoughts and prayers with a community across the globe, but I know that in this situation this community on WDW Magic can be especiallly aware of how devastating an accident like this could be. I find it hard to imagine what it might be like to realize that, in one instant you are returning from something as wonderful as a vacation to a favorite spot, but in the next you are hurt and your loved one is dead -- especially if you might feel it is partly your fault.

I am reminded that I often take life for granted. We must remember that we are not guaranteed tomorrow. While that is jarring and sad, I know (and have to remind myself) that the flip side is, that when it is all said and done, we have to remember simply to be thankful for the time that we have with loved ones, however short.

I suppose today, Memorial Day in the U.S., is a good day to remember that.

Thank you again for your prayers of support for this family.
