Twilight is actually much bigger right now than HP. Since the 1st book's release, each one in the series has been in the top 10 best sellers. In fact, rarely has a week gone by in the past year where the top 4 best sellers weren't the Twilight books.

The anticipation of the new movie and the buzz is bigger than anything I've experienced in quite some time.

Admittantly, HP has been popular far longer, but you asked if anything was bigger right now. There's no question - Twilight is bigger right now.

people twilight because they think robert pattanson is cute.he looks like a foot!

The latest Harry Potter movie hasn't even been out in theaters for 2 weeks and it already doubled the amount of money Twilight made.

captainkidd, just because you are a disney fan and uni is opening some new attractions doesn't mean you have to automaticly hate it.We all know that disney is a rival with uni, but that doesn't mean you have to hate universal. Both parks have something special about them.Like recent posts in this thread, WWoHP seems better than anything disney has done in 20+ years.Would you rather have SGE at disney or WWoHP? That's what I thought. You've been snorting too much pixie dust, dude...

EDIT: Would you visit uni if the 2 parks switched names
disney switches to uni and uni switches to disney! :lookaroun

I agree 100% - It will pass. That wasn't the question. The question was, what is bigger now?

The question was, what is more popular right now?
Actually, the question was:

Sure, Star Wars and Potter are two different beasts (as far as the movies go), but is anything really bigger right now than Harry Potter and has been for the past 10+ years?

10 years from now, people will be saying "Twilight? what's that?":lookaroun

Yep...I think it would be really REALLY interesting if somehow... in an alternate universe, DCA was Uni's second gate in Florida and IOA was Disney's second gate in California....the differences of opinion would probably be astounding!!

If you have no interest whatsoever in anything Harry Potter like me..never saw a movie or read a book and have no desire too then it is not really fanboy hate..

I will never go see Harry Potter Land or whatever it is called because I have no desire too...I prefer to be riding It's A Small World over and over again then to do that.

One of the many reasons I never go to Universal is because I have no interest in the rides/attractions there.

Not just because I "snort pixie dust" I genuinely have no interest in Men in Black, The Simpsons, Harry Potter or any of the other things they offer.

How many people who have ridden Splash Mountain have ever seen Song of the South? Yet that remains one of the most popular attractions at the Magic Kingdom. Someone said earlier that they had not read or seen anything involving Spiderman, yet they love the attraction at IOA. I am the same way.

If an attraction is relying on franchise recognition alone, then it is a poor attraction. They have to have cool effects, a fun, attractive and immersive world, etc, like any successful theme park attraction
Luckily the people putting their all into making these shows and attractions know that they have to entertain people who aren't necessarily "into" the characters or movies the attraction is based on. Unfortunately, sometimes the brand is so immediately unappealing to some people that they won't even give it a chance. Oh well.

By the way, why are the only 2 options so extreme? Where's the "Looks interesting, I'll probably go check it out sometime in the future" choice?

The thing is..it does not interest me enough to visit Universal a place where as said in this or another thread before does not have enough to entertain me and my family..my daughter is about to be 4 and would probably only enjoy the seuss stuff as would I because I am not a fan or roller coasters or spinning fast attractions..I am more of a Dumbo, Small World, Peter Pan ride kind of girl...so that along with the fact that I have no interest in Harry Potter will keep me from going..

It may be amazing..to you..and many others..I am sure it will be.. looks cool..but to me and my family it would be a waste of money and time.

Like I also said..maybe when my daughter is older and shows interest in things that Universal has then we will go there..I have nothing against the place because it is "Disney's competition"..I just do not go there because it has nothing for us there..just like I do not go to Six Flags parks.

I do not go to Disney's water parks because I am not a fan of water..and I hear they are pretty cool..to people who like water..and swimming..and things like that..I do not.

I do what has interest and appeal to me and my family.

Who said I hated Universal? I'm actually spending 3 nights there starting next Friday. I like Disney better, but can't I like both?

The whole point of this topic is there are some people acting as if WWOHP is the 2nd coming of Christ. I just don't see it. This isn't a Universal vs. Disney thing. It's a not everyone cares about Harry Potter thing.

Twilight took off after it's initial release in the theatres. The DVD has outsold every HP DVD. The new film in November will more than likely triple what the original made in theatres.

That was funnier when Peter Griffin said that about Sarah Jessica Parker.

I'm a guy (straight) and I like Twilight. Of course, I'll admit, a lot of the appeal for me is Kristen Stewart.

Why watch Twilight when she was vastly better (and hotter) in Aventureland. I could never make it through any clip of Twilight without attempting to maim myself in some way.

Anywho, Harry Potter Land. I haven't been a fan of Potter for a while (last time I cared was when OotP came out and I've only seen the first film), but I look forward to seeing how Universal brings it to real life. One of IOA's best themed places is the Arabian market in front of Sinbad, so HP has a lot to live up to.

Where are you getting your information from? Twilight didn't even outsell the last HP movie released on DVD.

As a comparison, I am not a comic book fan, never read ANY of them, never watched any comic book cartoon shows...and I thought (and still think) that Spiderman at IOA is the best attraction on the planet.

The incredibly unique platform and quality of the attraction trumps the actual character in this case and I believe the same can be said for the Harry Potter attractions.

For a Disney comparison, how many people were fans of Mr. Toad OUTSIDE of the attraction? Anyone?

I liked The Wind in the Willows, yes. I am not huge on Potter. I have watched maybe three of the movies (the new one was good) and have not read any of the books but am excited about WWoHP. I think any objective person would look at the stuff they are building (exteriors) and have to have some excitement over the immersion.

I don't care what your feeling is on the Harry Potter universe or books are, the fact that Orlando is getting a whole new land and MAJOR E-ticket ride with the promise of surpassing Spiderman should make this land a big deal to ALL theme park fans.
