Did you even look at your meme, you fool? Primeval Whirl is RIGHT THERE!

I now respect you 7% less.
I forgot about PW's theming.

Purposely.

Took large quantities of controlled substances to wipe it from my mind for the sake of my own happiness.

And now... you remind me.

This means war. Or a sanitarium. What were we talking about?

I get what you are saying; the reality of the world there is always checks and balances of it all. At a certain point pleasing the entire audiences is more important and you can ask everyone to imagine. I am a huge themed environment guy, but you have to please everyone. Not just the theming junkies. Reality of the business, even show business of theme parks.
Oh, of course! Disney might decide to build an entire land with cheap, off-the-shelf rides and then try to pass it off as "themed to a cheap amusement park" and I wouldn't blame them. But no matter how much I enjoyed said "Amusement Park Land," I would not consider it to be "well-themed."

We're just sharing opinions here, but not everything called "themed entertainment" is equal, right?

Um, they're already doing that? Dinoland anyone?

Wow. Nothing gets past you!
(Also, have you ever been to California Adventure?)
For what its worth I like PIxar Pier (theming pixar or not) Its got a big selection of rides in a small area, (incredicoaster, Little Mermaid, TSMM, Ferris wheel, merrygoround, inside out, Goofys sky school...swings, zeppelins and drops for little kids...10 rides total) its a pretty solid lineup imo, lots of food, midway games, parades, live entertainment, and an amazing night time show on the water.

You mean like noticing that Hagrid's is a coaster and Uni makes a point of that and are not so dimwitted as you seem to think they are because, gasp!, you can see tracks!

Join Hagrid and Fly into the Forbidden Forest.

Now’s the time to join Hagrid™ as you fly deep into the wilds of the Forbidden Forest, beyond the grounds of Hogwarts™ castle, on a thrilling roller coaster ride that plunges into the paths of some of the wizarding world’s rarest magical creatures.

I live on east coast not west coast. Maybe one day.
I only ask because California Adventure originally included a land called "Paradise Pier," which was literally carnival rides but justified as being "themed to classic boardwalk amusement parks."

A few years ago, they rethemed Paradise Pier to Pixar Pier, and it is not better.

Well that examples you gave is an extreme. Hagrid's is not the same class as the example you just mentioned.

In most critiquing eyes it is on par with Guardians or Rock rollercoaster, which although in dim lighting, never fully hide their tracks.(or in Guardians case can't even get projections to the floor of the first major scene or smoothly integrate the edges of screens.

Extreme? Disney has done this at least twice (Paradise Pier, Dinoland USA).

I'm saying there are varying degrees of quality when it comes to themed entertainment, and that for me, Hagrid's roller coaster track moves it down a couple notches on the themed entertainment scale.

Extreme as in bad design. Extreme does not imply it has not happened. You specifically brought up amusement land themed lands. Not really.comparable to Hagrid's endavuers.

Toy Story Land to me is actually lower than the Dinopand atmosphere because there are the remaining parts of Dinoland that did the love letter to kitsch right.

Toy Story Land does not do giant backyard well, and has polished less than unique amusement ride experiences.

It is a coaster. I'm saying that the same ride concept would have been improved had they used a more appropriate ride mechanism.

Why the snark? I never said anyone was "dimwitted," or that Universal was trying to hide anything. I'm happy to discuss this if you're able, but it's not fun interacting with you when you can't chat in good faith.

Oh, I see. Yes, those lands would be much lower on the theming scale for me, too.

And I agree about Toy Story Land. It really is my least favorite (for all these same reasons).

To me, Hagrid's is lower on the scale than it could have been. And not only because of the roller coaster tracks, but also for the long sections of open fields (maybe the "Forbidden Forest" will fill in someday). But I still think it's a great ride.

That's fair. My point is designing a good theme park is more than just the theming scale, they have to consider a lot of various factors to satisfy vs ROI etc...
So at least it is not a Slinky Dog situation.

Yes. It's definitely higher up on the scale! Good point.

And like I said, who knows what restrictions were put on the design team for any of these attractions or lands? If the Execs. come in and say, "Build us a coaster for Harry Potter Land!" or "Build a Toy Story Land, and you can only spend 20% of the budget on off-the-shelf rides; the rest MUST be used on fiberglass statues and plywood cutouts!" I guess you don't have much choice!

Which makes me wonder about Pandora. Count me among those who would prefer they add a third Avatar-themed attraction rather than updating the Flight of Passage with video from The Way of Water.

Obviously, my hope would be something other than a roller coaster!

The terrible part on that note is with Toy Story Land, they could not even get scale consistently right, which is likely not a budget constraint.
