PotC ride effect

Had a great trip this past weekend to the World. I did have one unique experience on the Pirates of the Carribean that I have never really had before. We were seated in the last two rows of the boat and were turning the corner out of the battle scene where the cannons are fired between the ship and the fort and into the area where the guy is getting dunked in the well. As we rounded the corner a cannon went off and a huge blast of air knocked off my sisters sunglasses from her head, pushed my wifes long hair into her face and I felt a large swoosh of air go by my head. Has anyone else ever felt this? It was definately from a cannon and not from the water. It was strange as many times I have been on the attraction and never had that happen before. Did I just happen to be there at the right time or does this happen to most boats and I have just missed it?

We noticed this also, starting with either our 2012 or 2013 trip (didn't notice it during 2011 trip). Our experience leads me to believe it's all in the timing of where your boat is and the effect. I believe the air is to hit the water causing a splash.

Oh wow, I've always been aware of the effect and have felt it but it's never been strong enough to knock off my sunglasses or anything major. I always thought it's supposed to be light enough to just simulate a cannonball going by. Perhaps something needs to be adjusted/fixed?

Yep! I believe it's newer. It's hands-down my favorite effect in the ride. When I didn't expect it, the sensation of a cannonball flying past my face was pretty darn believable. It's just too awesome. I'm glad to hear it's in working order.

I remember feeling this just once since the Depp refurb. I've been wanting to feel it again but out of all the times I've been on it since I have not felt it. And since there are no planned trips to WDW in the forseeable future, I hope I can feel it at Disneyland. Oh wow that sounds kinda perverted.

While we're on the topic, did Disney ever sort out the issue with water getting into the boats on this ride?
Last I heard it was still an issue.

Thanks for all the replies. Looks like it is a matter of timing. Pretty cool effect that I will now be looking/feeling for each trip. Oh, and the boats still have the water issue. One boat even had a castmember with a bilge pump at the unload area emptying one out. First time I have seen that also.

Not to worry, I dodged a bullet (or cannon ball, if you will) with the forcefield my special Mickey wristband placed around me. I am so glad I was wearing it at the time!

I went on it twice last trip and I didn't get a huge whoosh but we got a huge splash from the cannon balls the first time. Wasn't as bad the second time.
