PotC Hidden Skull?

I don't get why they didn't just put the original audio in, it sounds so much better...
Because the skull doesn't have a moment to himself in Florida. Sure he's over the drop, but he's just awkwardly at the end of the skeleton caves rather then being the Call to Adventure he is in the California/Tokyo versions. He's not a focal point of guest attention when placed next to the skeleton helmsman, he was just kinda added in because he was expected to be there and ended up just functioning as a safety warning. Now he's a cameraman with quips.

At least he doesn'targue with the moral of the ride as Davy Jones and Blackbeard do.. I would have just given him the 1973-2006 script obviously but it's fine.

And here's everyone's reaction when the photo is taken.....

Every time I see this, I think "yikes", lol.

The new skull is definitely an improvement (so far). Still waiting to see it in person in July. I do think an edited version of X's spiel would've been cool, and a charming homage. If they could bring Rod Serling back from the dead in 1994, and make Sir Alec Guinness say the name of a new Star Wars character in 2015, surely they could've tweaked X's work to fit the quick scene.

Then a DL cast member lied to me!
Perhaps they were mixed up and Frees does another voice in the ride.
Paul Frees used to be all over the ride. Originally, he was the voice of Blackbeard (replaced by Barbossa), Carlos (the mayor in the well), the auctioneer, the pooped pirate, the "Dead men tell no tales" and "No fear of evil curses..." voice-overs in the cave and perhaps more. Now, he's the mayor and the auctioneer. His voice was versatile but distinctive.

Soon, He might just be the Mayor.

Pretty cool. That voice over, though..... :banghead:

Time for you to 'splain this one, as it doesn't seem anyone has noted a familiarity.

I was just getting ready to post the same. I don't understand the point of being so vague about a change to the attraction that has already gone public. The change to the steering skeleton isn't apparent in the videos posted of the new skull... has anybody been on the ride the last few days to confirm what changed with that scene?
