Post Easter April 13-20 touringplans.com crowd level changes

I am traveling to Disney the week after Easter. Just a few days ago I checked the crowd levels on touringplans.com for April 13-20, and they were mostly 7's. The week before Easter was all 8 or 9. Now, April 6-15 are all listed as 10! 10! I've never seen that many days at 10 before. Christmas/New Year's is 6 or 7 days at 10, tops. So the parks could possibly close due to capacity for 10 days straight (April 6-15)? And then, the 15th-20th is all 9's!

What gives? Why are the crowds listed as SO high? And why less than a week ago were these days in the 7 range and now they are all at 9 or 10?

Me too. I was planning a trip the first week in May. The dates were all at around 5;s now they are 8's.

Is it really going to be that busy? I can manage either way, but I was taking my kids out of school to miss the crowds. Will the deals impact the crowds that much? Have a hard time believing it will be. Or at least I am trying to convince myself.

Please someone put me at ease!

I was in WDW last year the week before Easter, and I would've marked everyday as a 10. I thought because I wasn't there for actual Easter week that it wouldn't be as bad, but it was. So maybe the week after is like that too?

I was there last week, and the crowds were worse than normal for my typical March trips. I know it was spring break, but it was busier than normal. Park hours have been being extended pretty frequently recently. I think attendance may be higher than expected, perhaps due to the 4/3 deal.

Maybe that's why touring plans just changed their numbers. I'm also worried about May....I planned my trip in May to avoid summer crowds and now I fear they might be just as bad.

If you read Fred's blog - their stat guy, he talks about why they've revised.

Hours for the parks have been extending, resorts are filling up. This leads them to believe more people are going.

I did take a pic of the crowds....let me see if I can it on...

In past years, Easter weekend and the surrounding days have always been rated as 10's on touringplans. I was surprised a few months back when I saw they were rated lower this year.

Even the summer season predictions are lower then they usually are. I would not be surprised to see those eventually brought back up to mostly 8's or 9's like they usually are.

I read Fred's Calendar Blog. He says that because of cues from Disney, they are changing the daily ratings. He doesn't speak specifically about April, more so of May and June.

There also seems to be a lot of faith placed in the fact that reports of the past few weeks show that Disney is more crowded than expected. I thought with the recession, the parks would hover at crowd levels of 5-7 except for summer and Christmas.

What am I going to do? I'll make the best of it. I find whenever I book my trip, there is always someone who comments "We went in (month of my trip). Never again!". So you can't win. I went in March last year during the larger than expected Easter crowds and it was great. I've gone in August, July, October, January, and had a good time each trip.

I know alot of people like to visit when the kids are out of school but I rather prefer to go when there is school for all the kids and there are no other things going on like mvmcp or mnsshp or anything like that. even if its happening outside the park like last year wrestlemania was here and the parks were extremly busy that weekend. or bike week in Daytona beach. Forget it I always plan around these times. I like to go Jan, early Feb.and Sept.(after labor day) through end of Oct.. I know alot of people cannot plan around it like that but I try to and if Ican't go during those times I just don't go because I did it once around the 4th of July and Easter and I refuse to do it again, unless of course I'm being paid and I don't have to wait in any lines!!!!:animwink::D

Easter was in March last year but......

I was there for the three days after Easter last year and 10 was absolutely the number for the crowds- 11 might have been better :(. They "closed" (didn't let anyone else in) MK and Epcot the Monday and Tuesday after Easter last year.

I think a lot of schools plan their vacations around Holy Week? Either way, I'd pack my patience!

Even if it is a 10, WDW is WDW - you'll have a great time!:)

If your staying at WDW resort you can still get the parks if they close, right?

Going down on 04/07!

For the most part. Resort guests are the last ones that are turned away. However if they hit a certain capacity, the park will completely turn away all guests. Normally it's just day guests and those driving in.

WHAT? I always go the first week in may and it's never been 2 hour waits!
Fifth, the International Cheerleading Championship will be held at WDW April 25-26. It is absolutely impossible to book a value or moderate resort room for those days.
That's it, im changing my dates!

I'm really curious to see what the crowd levels are like when we are there in May (we will be there in the middle of the month.)

Last year when my sister and I went in May, it was moderate-level crowds but nothing too bad. If it's even less than that this year, it'll be really nice. Last time I checked the park hours (a couple of days ago) they were still pretty short, especially for MK. I'll have to keep my eyes on those in the next few days...

You won't like what you see.
lol aww, what does it say, may oh 2 through 5/7?
In past years, we've always gone the last week of April or the first week of May. Yes, we are one of those "bad" parents who pull our kids out of school to avoid the masses. Usually, the crowd levels are pretty good, 5 or 6's in touringplans.com.

This is the first year that we are going during school break (April 20-24). Although touringplans.com is only projecting a crowd level of 7 for the week, I still expect this to be the busiest we've ever seen. It will be interesting to see the difference.
By bad i think you perhaps ment....amazing?
