Possible Change to Evening EMH Policy

????????????????????????????????

How is that going to get day guests OUT of the park?
We all have tons of old keys...it will be easy for anyone to carry that around, they won't be able to scan or visually check dates.

As has been said, what is easier than asking you to hold up your hand? Easy to do in line, on walkways, on the parade route.

At least it is a week test and not necessarily implemented.

I concur, people will reuse past keys, Unless they change the resort key's design every week or so.

I admit to have using past unlimited refill mugs on current trips ;)

I am curious to see how this would actually be an advantage for the guests allowed in for EMH.

But if I understand EMH, you usually have to get your wristband by 7 or so ( or a specific cut off time) Correct?

Not at all...we arrived at the park just as Wishes was ending at 9:10 or so. There were CM's right below the train tracks handing out the wristbands.

You have to show your KttW to get your wristband anyway, so it isn't such a big deal for the guests as people are making it seem... whipping out your card every ride is hardly straining. It saves on having to locate where the wristbands are being given out then standing in another line. And who really cares if there are a few extra non-resort guests wandering the park during Evening EMHs? I for one don't really care because they aren't exactly in ride queues, are they?

Exactly...with a wristband you've already been checked to determine a valid card. Does this mean your card is going to be checked now at every attraction you get on?

I only use Evening EMH at Animal Kingdom, so it's not too big a deal to me personally. I do think it would be easier on CMs to check wristbands though.

Let's keep in mind the information posted is from a fan site. The reasoning for the test may not have been from an official source and the full details of the test and the reason may not be disclosed yet.

Based only on the information as stated, the problem and solution do not appear to connect. I don't believe we have the full story.

As people have stated its simple when it is just one of you, but add your kids, and your kids' stuff, and suddenly fishing 3 or 4 park tickets out of your pocket isn't that easy anymore. Not to mention the chances of you droping one or having one fall out your pocket goes way up.

Maybe they will do what they do for MVMCP and MNSSHP - place ropes and CM's strategically around the hub, and only let those with resort cards enter the various lands, while non-resort guests are "encouraged" to leave the park.

Last time I went, we had to show a photo ID AND our hotel key. Only then were we given a bracelet. I just don't get it. If you have a band, you ok, if not escort them out or do not let them on the ride

I think if they want to clear the parks of non-resort guest why don't they just close the park two hours before the EMH. That way people can go back to their hotels take a nap, eat, or leave the kids with a babysitter/family member. I think the wristbands are great, and to have to pull out a card everytime to get on each ride would take too long.

You have to show your resort id to get a wristband anyways. I guess they are trying to cut costs  It would be more convienent for the guest if they just had to show the CM their wristband than to have to pull out their id everytime they ride something.

a funny thing happened last month

this may be an unusual thing happening but i doubt it.

last month when i was there i was in line to get on Space Mountain and immediately in front of me there was a group of 5 20's somethings laughing how they have been riding the rides during EMH, this being over an hour into the EMH period, without having a wristband. from the conversation i took it that they were staying off property.

whatever the process is to check it only works if it is actually enforced. i like the wrist bands, in fact we have saved them in our scrap books over the years. if they replace that system so be it but whatever they do still it is up to the CMs to check and enforce.

In sept we were in line at Astro Orbiter and meet a family from Miami. They noticed our bracelets and got out a ziplock bag with yellow, orange and perhaps green bracelets to put on for the night. I do remember that they weren't the exact same but close to ours. The Mom of the family told me that a dollar type store sells them by her home in Miami and she gets different colors for what ever the parks are using.
DH and I were a little shocked and by then we were on the elevator so we didn't really speak to them again. My memory is fading but do the WDW bracelets say anything to make you think they are from WDW or would any local festival ride/beer booth type bracelet work. If that is the case and you can get them at local dollar stores than I could see the problem. We have only done EMH 3 times so my memory is foggy.
We go to the EMH park the day after trying to miss the crowds. I am too tired to stay late.

Don't you need your room key to get a wristband anyway? Why bother with the change unless they want to stop spending money on the wristbands.

The worst thing and why I avoid parks on EMH days and special event evenings is the cattle call that you have to weave thru to get thru the park from the entrance to just past the castle....if that is at all an issue eliminating the wrist bands is not a solution.

Sometimes Disney is too Nice

I think I've read on the boards that it isn't too unusual. Disney tries to be as polite and "customer always right" as possible so yes, it appears it isn't actually enforced. New way or old way, this is not going to be fixed (especially if you're looking for tiny dates on the cards). Add on the whole lose your card(s) when juggling kids and such = bad idea.

In all my times of doing EMH, I've only had to show my KttW card. Don't know why they wanted a photo ID?

I agree with all said above.

But if I understand EMH, you usually have to get your wristband by 7 or so ( or a specific cut off time) Correct?

But now without needing the band you can go an hour before the EMH ends and get in because you will just need your room card. So in other words you can wrap up at DHS and shoot over to the MK and get in.

We have done this many times with no problem getting the wristband right up till the end. Even if you dont have the wristband I have seen CM's ask for a resort ID and let you on the ride.

Interesting idea... kind of a pain..

I wonder how often people shared their room keys with local friends and relatives.. I mean A family could go in line and get their wrist bands, then had their room keys to their FLa family, they go in line and get wristbands...

Not sure if it's a big problem or not, but this new method would prevent that from happening
