I know this will be and may sound like a long long way off..but will we ever even see Disney trying to look into adding a 5th Park in the near future? Maybe based only on Disney Villains..that's the strong rumor I am hearing these days anyways.

Nope. They have a half day park (DHS), a quarter day park (AK), and a crown jewel that they've let fall apart (Epcot). They aren't building a 5th park with these outstanding issues.

Uh oh.

Welcome! This has been discussed so much.... every month or so it seems. Try a search of the forum and you`ll see countless discussions on how, where, what and when.

1.The Magic Kingdom is their crown jewel.
2.Epcot hasn't "fallen apart". It's been dumbed down some.
3.If people only spend 1/4 of the day at AK, it's because they're not fully taking everything in. That's not Disney's fault. Just because the place isn't stacked with rides, doesn't mean there isn't loads to see.

I have to admit that AK is a 1/4 day park for me. Simply because I have seen it, and I do not find most of the experiences there all that exciting. I would imagine that AK does and will continue to struggle with repeat guests. If given the choice between all the parks - unless you really love staring at animals - I would think a majority of people would not choose AK. They did a great job with it - but it needs more that will bring people again and again. Even Busch Gardens understands this with their park.

Sorry but I have to disagree with you on a couple of those statements. We spent 2 days at AK and still didn't get around to seeing the bird show. Now if you just go to ride the thrill rides then yes you can do that in 1/4 of a day, but to see all the "Attractions" and enjoy them takes much more time. The animal exibits alone could take half a day if you linger and take them in instead of just jogging through them so you can get on that next thrill ride.

People often talk about how AK needs more thrill rides, but that is not what AK is all about, it is about the animals and perhaps even learning a few things. Yes I think there is a place for thrill rides in AK, and yes I would love to see more, but I kind of like the more laid back nature of AK, the little side trails where you run into different animals from all over the world. I think if you spent more than a 1/4 of a day in AK and really looked at what it has to offer and take the time to enjoy the nature that is all around you, then you could see that it is not just another theme park with too few rollercoasters.

As for DHS I agree that park needs more attractions and some significant retheming. But again we spent 2 days there and didn't get to any of the shows (we did ride ToT 4 times one day though lol). But still that is much more than a 1/2 day.

Of the 4 parks, AK and DHS do about the same attendance wise every year, just behind Epcot, and way behind the Magic Kingdom. For some, it's just a 1/4 or 1/2 day park, no doubt. For me, it's a full day, as I like both the rides and animal exhibits. But I do agree, if they did add a few more rides in, it would help. I wouldn't want it to become like Busch Gardens though. To me, that's just a thrill ride park with a few animals thrown in for good measure.

Steve (mods) Please!!!

Can we have a sticky thead at the top for newbies to read that covers all these questions that seem to pop up now and then!!!!! One that has things in it like "there will be no 5th park until its announced", "beastly kingdon is DEAD", etc that answers these common questions so newbies don't have to take up bandwidth with new threads. this will be much easier than them having to do a search for these topics! Thanks!!

Also my post count is low but I have been a member for years...I just don't post unless I have something important to say...and this seemed important :)

I don't get why people freak out every time someone creates a new thread about a 5th gate or monorail expansion. Just tell them to do a search on the topic and move on...why all the snarky comments?

Not everyone on this board has been here for years, and not everyone spends a lot of time on here.

Even so...

Also, I have seen 2 of the original posters 3 posts to date. I don't get the impression he or she read ANY topics before posting new threads.

Edit: Now I've looked at all 3. 3 posts = 3 new topics. All of which were already under discussion. I'm just sayin...

Oh, take it easy on the poor newbie. We don't have to come in and ______ all over the post because some of us have been around long enough to hear the same question raised hundreds of times. It's not hard to redirect them to previous threads where its been covered.

The constant repetition of the same 5 topics has caused our souls to whither very much like someone who made a bad deal with a sea witch?

As for AK being a 1/4 day park, I'd have to totally disagree. Maybe if you have been there already and you just don't care to do certain things again, okay, but for a new person to the park it is a full day if you want to see it all...the 3 shows, 2 treks, Everest, Dinosaur, Safari, Kali River Rapids, Tough to be a Bug, and just enjoying the incredible surroundings. Personally, I'll spend more time at AK than DHS because I like looking at the animals and enjoying the meticulously detailed environments and lush habitats.
