Possible 1-day surprise. WWYD?!

This is kinda a different little situation I have going here. Bear with me.

My 20th anniversary is coming up this September. I'm slated to go on the Dream Girls cruise Sept. 8-12. The itinerary is as follows:

When I get off the girls cruise I'll be returning to a studio at AKV/Kidani and will be joined by my husband at about midnight that night (he has to work all day before his flight).

We'll have all day Friday, Sept. 13th to do whatever.

Saturday, Sept. 14th we head back out to Port Canaveral to sail on the Disney Fantasy for the week.

So I have that ONE day/night that we will be on Disney property with nothing to do but maybe wander the resort or relax by the pool. We've stayed at AKL/Jambo before so it's not like we're all new & fresh to the entire resort there.

The old man is kinda wistful for the parks lately whereas I'm mostly fine to skip them. But, it being our anniversary and all, I was thinking he would be shocked to the marrow of his bones if I surprised him with park time. He'd never in a bazillion years expect it because I'm pretty adamant about not spending the crazy amounts to go to the parks these days.

Looking at Sept. 13th, there's a lot of options out there. Without feeling him out a little as to which of the parks he misses and would like to revisit most I'm left sorta wondering what would be best crowd-wise for that day/night plus considering cost for just a single day. I mean, we all know what the 1-day price is now. I'm almost nauseated just thinking about it but I'll try to remember he's worth oh-so much more. :p

If he's wishing most to revisit Epcot then that will trump anything any of us think and leave me with the decision made. However, I realize DHS has the Villians Unleashed thing going on for day guests until 1 am which I assume will draw quite a crowd particularly after the other parks are closed up for the day. Buuuuuut, the MK is also having MNSSHP that night which would be cool for a list of reasons:

1.) Guests may opt to do the halloween party another night during their stay because this night is a bonus night at DHS.

2.) Tickets would cost waaaaaay less for this vs. 1-day full tickets.

3.) We could skip all the party hullabaloo & just hit attractions which tend to have shorter waits because party-goers are busy doing the special shows/parade/etc.

Hmmmmm...decisions decisions! I kinda lean towards doing MNSSHP because we could sleep in (he is getting in at midnight the night before), enjoy the resort a little during the day, nap, and still get into the MK @ 4:00 giving us 8 hours of running around for a lot less than a 1-day ticket. Then again, how many visitors will think the exact same things I am and do the same thing??? Ugh! What to DO?!?! What would YOU do???

And now I'm dreaming up how I'll surprise him..... oooohhh.... this could get goooooooood! :D

Sweetpee..
We are going to be there that week...in particular for the Villians Party BUT Disney has not and wont confirm this event on 13 Sept..I sent a request for information to Customer service with a copy of the Official Disney Blog entry stating it would happen..I got a response from Disney stating they would not confirm the Villians party and they apologize for any inconvenience..they did say if an event were to take place it would be "announced" much like the 24 hours MK party. We are hoping this happens..if not the MNSSHP is happening the 13th.

My thoughts on R&C-

I actually ended up having some kind of Chicken dish I believe. It wasn't half bad from what I remember of it. I loved the view though
Never doing MNSSHP I would probably choose that but if I had one day, with no park hopping option, we would spend it in Epcot personally. We happen to love the atmosphere and its probably all three of ours favorite park. So that would be it hands down...

If I were you, I would choose the DHS One-Night event since it will likely only happen once unless they do this every year. I did the Halloween Party last year and the rain canceled everything. If you wanted to, you could go to MNSSHP for some of the night and after the fireworks, you could head over to DHS. You wouldn't need a park-hopper. It would just be MNSSHP ticket and DHS one-day ticket as well. I know that this idea might make it more expensive, but if you really would like to go to both, I think that it is a good idea.

I think I'd go for MNSSHP. Since you can get into MK at 4, you'll still have 7 hours of park time...and with it being later in the day, you can be lazy for much of it. Plus it would help with the surprise. I'm thinking he won't be expecting park time if you've devoted the bulk of your day to non park stuff. Then mention something about early dinner plans that involve taking the bus to MK. He'd most likely think you just booked a surprise dinner on the loop....Then be shocked that you're heading into the park for the party.

Epcot would be my 2nd choice.

If you've never been to a MNSSHP, I'd do that. Boo to You is such a great parade.

Me, I'm looking forward to the villain thing, so I personally would pick THAT. But I've done a lot of MNSSHPs.

First of congrats on the 20 years! My DH and I celebrate our 20th next May and we're also doing a cruise on the Fantasy to celebrate. I'm beyond excited, we've never been on any cruise before but had been tossing around the idea and looking at all the cruise lines. Then I found your trip reports on the cruises you all have done and I decided that we needed to just go big or stay home! It wasn't even that hard to convince DH to fork over a little extra cash for the 7 night on the Fantasy

Now that I have that out of the way, I think I would probably go for the MNSSHP, rather than all day at a park. Even though MNSSHP goes late, you will have all day to relax. I don't know about you, but spending the extra money on a regular day ticket would make me want to be at the park all day, open to close in order to feel like I'm getting my money's worth. I would rather relax by the pool as much as possible, enjoy the MK in the evening and be nice and refreshed and relaxed heading off on my cruise adventure!

No offense but that plate looks like a rendering of a Muppet. I think I should go to sleep now. LOL!

Hi Sweetpee. I have been so sorry in the last year that you lost interest in the parks. I loved reading your trip reports and do love your reports on the cruise trips. I look forward to any trip reports you write and hope you once again enjoy the parks as much as the cruises. Happy Anniversary!
