How big are the trundles at Port Orleans? We are deciding on our next hotel. With 5 of us, picking 1 resort for us is difficult. Any help from you would be nice!!

We used 1 last Christmas and was just fine, our DS (5) loved it. And our DD(8) even slept with him on it 1 night with no real issues, just slides in under your bed. Hope this helped:wave:

Last year, my family of 5 stayed at POR in the bayou section with the trundle bed. However, since the youngest was 13 at the time, we knew the trundle bed wasn't going to cut it.

But being a family of five, we didn't have many options for staying at Disney without getting two rooms or a suite at a Deluxe Resort.

So, we bought a twin size air mattress, and packed it with us. It fit neatly in one half of a mid size suitcase. I think we paid around $50 dollars for it. A bargain compared to what it would have cost to get a second room or suite.

I slept on the air matress the whole week, and slept fine all week. In the morning, I just pushed up the mattress against the wall, and all was well.

Just thought I'd pass along what we did to make it work, in the event the trundle bed looks to small for your family.

I realize this is off-topic, but I want to help you out (NOT criticize you!!!) by making sure that at least when you're in WDW that the name of your resort is Port Orleans Riverside or POR, not just plain ol' Port Orleans.

The reason I say this stems from an experience I had outside Magic Kingdom one night. I was in line at the bus stop to return to Port Orleans French Quarter (POFQ), and the next stop was for POR. A woman came up to me and asked which line to get into for Port Orleans. I responded that it depends, is she staying at Port Orleans French Quarter or Port Orleans Riverside? She quickly got very huffy with me and said she was staying at the "regular" Port Orleans. I said it has to be one or the other, and asked her to describe the resort and maybe I could help her. She rolled her eyes and angrily walked away from me.

She didn't know the name of the resort she was staying at, couldn't find the right bus stop, and was mad at me for it.

we have used the trundle several times & my small 12 year old was fine in it. On our most recent trip in July we were told only kids under 9 were allowed to sleep on it (??). We have also brought an air mattress with us to use in leu of the trundle & that worked fine, too.

we used the trundle last year. The size was fine for a kid, but none of mine wanted to sleep on it. I ended up on it once or twice, and I will tell you that it was a bit small for a grown man.
The one thing we experienced was that our youngest (4yrs at the time) seemed to cough more when we had him down there on the trundle... don't know what the deal was... allergies or just colder on the floor... but that seemed to be the case--one of the reasons I ended up down there a couple of times.

We stayed there in 2006 and hated it. We were 5, husband, 15yr old son, 10yr old daughter and 8yr daughter and myself. The room is too small in our opinion for basically 3 adults. There were never more than 4 sets of towels, pillows, cups in the room and I constantly had to call for more. They knew we would be 5 in the room from the reservation. We were there for 9 days and by the time we left housekeeping hated us. Everynight when they had to come out to deliver more towels, etc. I asked if a note could be made so they would put 5 of everything in the room the next day after housekeeping was in there and it never happened. Don't get me wrong, I kept a pleasant tone and all the CM's were wonderful to me in return, but why couldn't they get it right, we were 5 in the room. Here is a picture of my 8yr old on the trundle bed. We are going back to the deluxe and vacation club hotels from now on.

Thanks to all of you. Due to the comments on the trundle, we decided to book a deluxe resort. We felt the trundle would be too small for the teenage boys. So, look out Poynesian!!! Here we come!!! :sohappy: (well, in May. :brick:)

Just a question...what kind of room did you get at the Poly that would accommodate 5 people? I know it is a deluxe and the rooms are larger than those at POR, but does ther Poly offer extra beds?

For a party of five adults I would recommend two rooms at a value or moderate before going to a deluxe. The rooms at the deluxe are not much bigger than a moderate and just barely sleep five adults. Two rooms at PORS will give you much more room, a second bathroom and more privacy at about the same cost as a deluxe room.

We thought about getting 2 rooms before, 1 just for my sister & me, but in the end, we thought a deluxe resort would work too. With the daybed, it gives us plenty of sleeping space (which is about the only time we'll be in the room!). We've always wanted to do a deluxe resort, so we figure now is the time!

We did 5 at a Deluxe resort last year, 2 were teens. Just know that the daybed is not super long. The teen sleeping on it was only about 5'4. We stayed at the Beach Club and never felt like there wasn't enough room. Have fun!
