Port Orleans or Coranado Springs

So due to work requirements, I am now planning a trip for mid December and I need recommendations for either the PORS,POFC or the CSR. It will be four of us, my wife and I and two sons 18 and 16. The four of us love the parks, but also like to come back and relax in the resorts, swim(as Canadians my sons will go in a pool even if it is cold out) and read. We stayed at the CBR 4 years ago and loved it, but want to try one of the other moderates. I am especially interested in what other families with older teenagers recommend.
Thanks

Whenever my family went when I was a teenager, we always stayed at FQ. We loved it. The boat ride to DTD is great and it is close to Epcot which was one of my favorites as a teenager. I have stayed at RS and love it and I have also stayed at CSR and enjoyed that as well. For me, CSR didn't have as much of the Disney feel as the other resorts.

My wife and I stayed in Po in 06...we found it GREAT! The pools are very nice...and there are prvate pools also...game rooms for the kids...as in all the resorts...boats to some places...buses are very prompt...and did not take long...we loved that part...food was great...and I lived in New Orleans for years...it was very realistic! But...still...you have to do your homework and decide for yourself...just enjoy! :sohappy:

PORS or FQ would be my choice. The resort layout is better and it has boat transportation to DTD. Also CS is set up to be a convention resort which IMHO kind of kills the Disney vacation mood.

CSR is my family favorite! I don’t know if it will work for you but pick which resort theme you like best and which resort amenities meet your family's needs. Also, check out my CSR website below for updated info and pics.

Here is just some quick info on CSR.

CSR has newly renovated rooms and queen beds (only mod to offer them).

A terrific main pool area that includes a 123 ft slide (2nd largest at WDW), kiddie pool, arcade, playground, sand volleyball court, hot tub (largest on WDW property), a bar, and snack bar (very good food for CS).

Reliable transportation that is not shared with other resorts, 4 resort stops and quick rides to all the parks. CSR has the closest bus stops to the park entrances too (first stop at DHS and MK)!

Other amenities you may be looking for in a resort.
Only moderate to offer suites.

A spa, salon, tanning beds, a lap pool and fitness center (free to its guests).

Full menu room service, expensive though.

Central air, flat panel TV’s and WiFi available.

Rix Lounge – a dance club voted most trendy bar in Orlando.

A business center with computer access.

I am with you Master Yoda...stayed at CS...TOO spread out...it was ok...but we got sick one day...and it was TOO far to walk for soup...lucky for us friends that live there had loaned a car...so we could drive for meds and soup!

I would also recommend Port Orleans Riverside. Beautiful grounds, several pools, great food court and the boat ride to DTD. The only problem I have with PORS is the sometimes daunting bus system.

For a weekend Port Orleans French Quarter...

For more then 2 nights Port Orleans Riverside...

On a personal note, we stayed at Pop Century this past weekend for the 4th. I hate the Central AC. Port Orleans have the window a/cs and ceiling fans. I love the hum of the ac. Nothing helps me sleep better.

Port Orleans French Quarter has my vote. It's smaller than Riverside so it doesn't take that long to walk to main building no matter where you are. If you were at Riverside, it's really nice but there is a chance you could have longer walk to pool and main building.

Thank-you guys
WE are hedging to the POFQ because it is a little smaller and we like the theming. Our son's did notice the pool at the riverside, and I was wondering how far it is to use the Riverside pool if you stay at the FQ.

Not far at all. 10-15 minute walk tops. At the farthest point away you are looking at just over 1/2 a mile walk. By comparison it is about 1/4 of a mile less than that walk from the entrance of Epcot to the American pavilion.

It's a little walk or hop on a boat or bus, I noticed alot of people doing that when we stayed there. We even went to riverside to eat a few times.
