Pop or All Stars

We are trying to decide between the All Stars and Pop. Which is better? And which all star is better, music or movies. I know I don't want to stay at the sports. We don't have any kids, so that is not a concern. Any help is appreciated!

Other than the theme, there is absolutely no difference between any of these. Pop is the newest one. Movies has the best theme IMO.

Well......
AS sports gets the first bus pick up, then the other 2 AS resorts.

Pop doesn't share a bus with any other resorts. Pop is newer, and a bit "cleaner"

I have stayed at the Pop and my family loved it!

I heard that it is an updated resort and they took the issues with the allstar resorts and fixed them.

I am sure others who have been there can be a better judge

I just booked our February vacation and we are staying at the Pop again. If that tells you anything.

Of the All-Stars, Music tends to be better for adults without kids--it's much quieter (though I prefer Movies' theme). I prefer Pop Century to the All-Stars. Pop has its own bus (unlike the All Stars, which share with each other), and it is a prettier resort, I think--especially with Hour Glass Lake. Its location is better, as well, with fast bus service to all location except the Magic Kingdom (which is the case at any non-MK Resort). I'd go with Pop. It also has a separate pool bar...the theme is a lot of fun, too. I BELIEVE Pop has bigger tvs, too, though I have not stayed at Pop and an All-Star in close enough a timespan to remember the television sizes.

I've stayed at all of the All-Stars and Pop, and at this point in time I am recommending Pop. It's newer and a lot of fun (soft-surface splash zone for the kids, cast members do the hustle every day at 6PM, etc). Plus, the All-Stars are starting to show their age. However, there is a new suite being tested at All-Star Music (I think it's Music). So, if you have a large party and would need 2 rooms, this new suite might suit (pun intended).

Yes we do have some suites at the All Star Music. I know there are some in the Jazz section, I don't know about the rest of the resort. I've been in them and they are really nice. They took two rooms and made them into one. I'm not sure if they are selling them yet. They were doing inspections on them a few weeks ago, but I didn't hear if they decided to start selling them.

Suites at the all stars that’s great I will have to ask about then the next time I go. I just stayed at the Movies a few weeks ago in building 6 witches was the Herbie the love bug and the room had been completely redone. New carpet, the light fixers were new the bathroom was new, different style quilts on the bed it looked really good.

ive been fortunate to stay at all star sports and pop and i would choose all stars anytime!!

i stayed at pop for my last trip and i wouldnt stay there again but give credit where its due on my last day i had a major problem with transport and i asked them for help and they went out of there way only 2 cast members (i even remember there names) to help me, so that sort of made up for it being not one of my fave hotels.

i prefered the all stars coz the theming is just right not over done like pop, more variety at the food court, food court at all stars cheaper than at pop, more fruit and veggies at all stars, get more for your money at all stars.

one thing i did notice and it may sound as if im being cheap but if you add it up its a sum of money: a bowl of grapes at pop costs $3.99, a bowl of grapes at all stars costs $1.99. it may not sound like a lot but to people who have a limited variety of food its alot coz pop had crap food i use to eat resort hopping and i bought fruit and veggies in the parks, the harambre market and main street bakery.

the rooms at pop are small and if anyone has stayed at all stars they would notice it, when i opened the door at pop it nearly clipped the bed everytime they where that close together. didnt like the way that the tv couldnt be turned so i could watch it while i was sitting at the table.

but what can make up for all the bad points are the 2 cast members who helped me and i am truely grateful and i couldnt stop telling them that.there are always some who will go out of there way to help you.

it has multiple bus stops with direct routes to the parks except AK goes to blizzard beach, DTD goes to typhoon lagoon and PI.

the buses came every half hour even through the holiday period maybe even later.

I would choose Pop for 2 main reasons:

1. I like the theme of it better than the All Star's
2. It does not share a bus with any other resort, while the All Star's all share one bus.

Have fun!

To answer ajrwdwgirl question, Pop Century has a single bus stop pick-up area where you will find different areas for the buses to each Park. Unlike the All Star Resorts which have three different bus stop pick-up areas. I stayed at Pop for the first time in September of 2005 and thought it has the best transportation system of any resort other than the Polynesian. I will be going back in May and if my wife can get the time off of work in a couple of weeks for the EE annual pass preview.

pop #1

even though I have only stayed at POP I will be staying there again when I go back in Oct 2006. Being a 30something mom I had so much fun telling my son and nephew about the different toys and items they have in the lobby. Also the fact that it only has to make one bus stop is great and the icons make you really feel young again.:sohappy:

I completely agree. We stayed at Music in 2004 and Pop in 2005. The buses alone make Pop a huge draw. I loved that it was 1 resort 1 bus, where All Stars share buses to/from the parks. We never got on the first bus when staying a Music. While at Pop we just almost always got on the first bus.

I also liked the food court and pools better at Pop. They seemed less crowded.

If you choose All Star, I suggest that (because you said you will not be travelling with children) that you stay at either Music or Sports. Movies is the last stop the buses make. Sports is first followed by Music.

If you had to pick between Pop and All Stars, I'd pick Pop because of the dedicated bus line.

Having said that, I'll never stay at a value resort again. I would try to scrape up the money to stay at one of the moderate resorts.

As you can see below we have stayed at all of them and we continue to go back to POP. In our opinion (we have 2 DD's age 8 and 6) and they like the theme at Pop better. One bus, larger pools and food court are reasons we go there and not the AS's.

My family loves Movies! Mainly because of the theming! We stayed at POP last year and actually waited for buses longer than we had any time at Movies. I only remember one time having to share a bus with the other All Star Resorts (this may be because we stayed at the park all day long and came home late when they split buses up.) Anyway, we have kids who love the theming. Pop was nice but not our favorite.
