Hello
im staying at the pop century resort for 8days in August?
and i wanted to know what most people do after they check in and visit your room??

this is my first time staying at a value resort and first time staying at a resort and disney resort in 7 years???
thanks

I guess that depends on what time you are coming in. My family usually gets there around noon, so half the time the room is ready for us, half of the time it is not. If not, they hold our luggage and we head to the parks. If it's ready, we drop it off and head for the parks. We might come back around 3 or 4 to swim for a little and then go from there.

I usually get in around noon as well. I've had many more occasions where the room was ready than not. Either way some food at the food court is usually a must then off to Epcot for my obligatory ride on Spaceship Earth and maybe a couple other attractions. Then to bed early for a bright and early start to the first full day!

If I have a ticket for that day, I go to one of the parks, but if not, then I hit DTD. I relax after my flight and it makes me more excited about hitting the parks the next day. I usually go back to the resort (POP here too), have dinner and maybe a swim.

In our case since it was late, eat at food court and wait for luggage. :(

I had very low expectations for Pop Century because it didn't seem "Disney" enough to me. However, once we checked in and spent some time walking around the resort during our stay, I changed my mind. The resort is very big and if you are looking for some quiet time, try walking around the path that goes around the small lake that divides the two resorts (classic and legendary). Also, standing on the bridge that connects the two resorts during the evening is nice and peaceful and you can sometimes see fireworks. During our last stay we saw giant lightsaber spotlights from the Star Wars Weekend celebration. There are fun trivia signs along the path that highlight a big event from the 50s to the 90s. My daughter loved looking for the giant statues like Lady and the Tramp and Mowgli and Baloo. Disney did a great job of establishing a nice sense of nostalgia for whatever decade you grew up in. It is definitely one of my favorite resorts now.

It depends what time you arrive. You can jump straight in the pool and relax or just take a walk around near the lake. It is very picturesque. The theming is great so maybe take in some of that nostalger. Or you could always do the obvious and hit one of the parks. They are so close, why not?:)

A tradition for us is to walk around the resort a bit and then head to DTD. We usually have the first flight out in the morning so we arrive at our resort well before noon. We hop the bus to DTD and then have lunch and shop a bit (occassionally we will have lunch at the Pop food court before going to DTD but, it depends on what time we arrived and if my kids are saying they are "starving"). I usually try to make ADR's for dinner that night around 6pm or so at Chef Mickey's. After dinner we ride the monorail and check out Poly and then head back to Pop for bed so we can get an early start the next morning.

Take the time during your stay to view all the displays on the wall in the Classic Hall by where check-in/guest relations is located. They have memorablia from every decade that Pop represents. It is quite cool to say, "I remember that or this." Well, I guess that means I'm showing my age :ROFLOL::ROFLOL::ROFLOL:
Depending on our arrival time we will hang out at Pop for a bit and then go over to Epcot and get some dinner. DH likes to start the trip off with a visit to the Biergarten.

After my friends and I checked in a put our bags in our rooms we decided to hang out around the resort. We started by heading to the pool bar, got some frozen cocktails then wandered around taking pictures of everything. After henging by the lake and the pool we went into the Everything Pop restaurant, ate dinner then went to the arcade and played for a good 30 min.
Later we got ready had one more drink at the bar, then headed down to DTD for DQ and later for Margarita's at Bongos. :slurp:
All in all we had a fun filled day!

This will be our first stay at Pop in 2 weeks but our plans are not going to be any different than when we stay other places. We added on a day to our trip so on our first day we are arriving around noon, if room is ready we'll go up and put our stuff in the room, if not I'll have our swimsuits in a bag for us to change into and we plan on going to one of the pools for a bit, walk around and check out the resort and then a little before dinner time we'll shower and change. Usually our first afternoon and night we spend in DTD but since we are coming a day early, we've decided to go over to the Boardwalk and then take a boat over to Beaches and Cream so our family can take the Kitchen Sink challenge. My kids are super excited because I've told them that we can have dessert frst this night :sohappy:. Our second day we're going to do the DTD thing but like I said that is usually our first night ritual.

Last time we stayed at Pop we got there in the afternoon. Went to room to put some carry ons away. We then walked around resort and took pictures, had an early dinner and then hit the pool for awhile before going to bed and starting fresh the next day.

This time we arrive at 11am. We plan to eat lunch after we arrive. Then go to pool for a little bit, maybe get 2yo a quick nap then we are off to MK. We have 5:30pm ADR and then we will do just a few rides before heading back to hotel for good night's sleep.

I usually arrive late so I like to just hang around the resort. Pop Century is so much fun, so many things to look at and the pools are great.
This next trip, we should be arriving early so we will probably have lunch at the hotel then head out to DHS.

We purchase or mugs and walk the resort. We then head to Downtown for dinner, shopping and maybe some DQ. After that we head back to the resort to swim and get ready for the next day. We never hit the parks until day 3 and that is only to catch the parades however we stay for 15 days each year and purchase a 10 day park hopper. 10 days in the major parks and a few extra for DQ and water parks.

:sohappy:17 Days until trip number 44!!!:sohappy:

We usually arrive around noon so we head over to the food court for lunch then take a walk around the resort while we wait for our room to become available. Once available we take a nap before going to DTD for dinner and a relaxing night walking in the different shops. This year will be the same except we won't be going to the CW or AC

We check in,unpack, hit the food court and pool area to check it all out. Then my daughter likes to watch the special disney channels they have and see what's new and going on in the parks on the tv. So we just relax, then we head to Down Town Disney for dinner.
