I almost always grab lunch at the food court at the airport, so that the second I check-in I can drop off my luggage and then head to a park. I don't see the point in wasting a day at DTD when I can be touring the Haunted Mansion at The Magic Kingdom or conquering the Forbidden Mountain at Disney's Animal Kingdom.

I had very low expectations for Pop Century because it didn't seem "Disney" enough to me.

I don't quite understand this kind of comment. If anything, the Values are the MOST Disney-like hotels on property. Almost every other resort has "themeing" that can be found at hundreds of hotels across the country or throughout the world. With exception of a few that have a monorail running through/past them, There's not much that makes them "Disney."

Having stayed with the in-laws about an hour away, we were counting on our first day as a park day. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived about 8:30 a.m., intending just to get our tickets/meal plan materials and take a bus to AK, to discover rooms were ready.

So we headed to the rooms, dumped all our suitcases and stuff, then headed to AK. Put us behind our schedule, but then we didn't have to come back about 3 p.m. to check in. So it all worked out quite well.

Our standard practice is if we can arrive noon or earlier, we head to a park. If not, we check in, eat, then head to DTD or even to play minature golf or some such or just swim, getting to bed early for the next day.

Walking around DTD is always a great option with all its restaurants and shops, but my family and I also enjoy just riding the monorail around the resort. Although we don't actually go into the park, it gives us a taste of what's to come and gets us excited!
