There was a picture with a bus saying "Saratoga Springs", and that isn't open yet either. Maybe they just like jumping the gun a little.

The Pop Century Signs were put up a long time ago (I saw them in August 2001). Then they were covered up when the resort opening was delayed. But I guess they are back in the open again.

How is the progress on that resort? What's the status? Is the "uncovering" of the signs any indication of what is to come soon?

This Resort is basically half done, with the Classic Years very close to completion while the Legendary Years have some of the buildings up (not themed at all), and others just have their foundations. It will be a while for Legendary to be done, but Classic could reopen as soon as Disney sees a need for that.

If Disney opened Pop Century offering some GOOD promotions, rates and special packages for internationals, they'd fill that up in no time...

Would Disney ever just open 1/2 of the resort? And still keep working on the side that isnt complete? Or is that undisneylike and they'll just wait for the whole pop century to be complete?

Well, it was originally planned to open like that. Also, it's of my understanding (and I could be wrong, so don't quote me on this) that both sides are somewhat apart, meaning that opening one while still working on the other wouldn't be as un-Disney-like as an attraction being rehabbed in the parks.

Yes and no. Port Orleans functions as two completely different resorts. Pop Century will have a main theme and the buildings will go from one area to the other (Half the years on one side the other half on the other side). There will be two seperate check in areas, food courts, and pool areas.

Heck, the signs are a lot cheaper and easier to make than the resorts are!

It least it looks like they've got a lot of new stuff ("Sorry folks, our bus doesn't pass those resorts!)

I don't see why WDW couldn't/wouldn't open a portion of the resort at a time. They've done that with several resorts, they've added on DVC villas at resorts without a problem. The best way for them to pay the bills is to open what they have and pay as they go!

Port Orleans was originally 2 totally seperate resorts. One was Dixie Landings and one was Port Orleans (this wasn't that long ago) and then they changed Dixie Landings to PO Riverside and PO to PO French Quarter. Not sure why---makes no sense to me, but Pop Century is supposed to be one resort. It's just so big they'll split things up for guest comfort. This is all my personal speculation, but they're nothing alike--PO and PC.

This would be just like the All-Star Resorts, where Sports and Music opened three years before Movies. Keep in mind, the All Star Resort and Pop Century Resort both have 5,760 rooms, so it would be much the same.
