Yes
True, but none of the rooms are worth the price anymore. Doesn't keep me from staying in one though.

Right? We're going to fork over $488...yes $488 for ONE night at the Grand Floridian in September because it's my friend's moms (probably) last trip to Disney and she's always wanted to stay there. Is it worth $488? no...but for the memories it'll make...yes.

That's my biggest gripe about the values now. I think they're right nice resorts, but certainly not worth that price point.
The resort classification system (Value, Moderate, Deluxe) is definitely an internal comparative system-$120 for a Value room is comparatively inexpensive when compared to Moderate and Deluxe prices within WDW, but not inexpensive when compared to similar offsite hotel rooms. For $120 per night, you could probably get a better room offsite, but for my family, and alot of other families out there, the benefits of staying on property offset the differences. I stayed offsite for my first trip to WDW, and when we were at the hotel, it didn't feel like we were on a WDW vacation, whereas now, when we are at Pop or AoA, we still feel like we are experiencing Disney even when we are in the room.

Not to mention that by staying off site you have to pay for parking per day. Disney does what they can to force people to stay on property. It's a good business model after all.

and some hotels would charge for parking at the hotel as well.

Yes Disney hotels are a premium price, but they include free parking at the hotel and the theme parks and/or free airport transfers and regular transport to the parks. There is also no resort fees at all. So compared to some hotels you do get things included in the price that others charge for.

The absolute worst hotel I've ever stayed in was the Hollywood Tower. The grounds look like a dump, it was very visibly broken in many areas, it looked like it hadn't been cleaned in any way in over 70 years, and the elevator was a broken death trap so I never even got to my room.

-13 stars

Tell me about it. I woke up in the Anaheim venue this morning and some stupid raccoon with a potted plant was down in the lobby making a huge ruckus. I think that location is going to get even worse "under new management"... like is always the case with Disney Parks it seems.

I have been debating whether to stay here in a couple of weeks since the prices for my dates are comparable to off-property resorts. I've heard horror stories about the "value" resorts and have pretty much avoided them because of said stories (usually always stay at Coronado Springs). This time though, the price is pretty unbeatable.

So I guess here are my questions:
1) Although Pop Century has it's own dedicated bus line, do they still get ridiculously crowded?
2) Are the rooms really as tiny as everyone says they are? Or are they just your standard run of the mill motel rooms?
3) People have said that it is like staying at a very crowded apartment complex (noise all day and night, children running around etc). I expect noisy but people say it's beyond what should be normal.

Thanks guys! I know I can count on all of you for some great insight.

Pop still has its own bus line and it does get crowded, especially near and at park closings. Yes, they run multiple buses, but the wait at times is no different than the All-Stars. The plus to Pop is it's proximity to Art of Animation. So on a few nights when the Pop line was too long, I jumped on the AoA bus and got back sooner.

The rooms are small, but for two people not bad. Unless you plan on spending a lot of time in the room. I've always used it for sleeping and showering. Noise wasn't a factor, but then, I always ask for the top floor and not near a pool area. Two years ago however, I was on placed on the ground floor near the Hippy Dippy Pool and wasn't bothered by any noise.

I think they have lost their minds. I travel often with another adult, and neither of us would want to sleep on the pull down. I'm glad we have already stayed at the Pop, because apparently we are not going back. Too bad, we had a nice time too.

Does anyone actually know if all of the rooms will be remodeled with pull down beds?
It seems like a nice option for some people who want the extra floor space, but would also make sense to just have it as a room category in selected buildings and have other rooms configured with two double beds as it is now.

Just curious. Why would it matter if it's a pull down if the mattress is the same?

I don't think there is any way it can be the same.

Have you tried the ones at AoA? The mattress is 8" thick. No different than a standard mattress. It's extremely comfortable. My adult son said it's as comfortable -- and in some cases *more* comfortable -- than any hotel bed he's slept in. I found it way more comfortable than the "regular" queen-size bed in the bedroom of the suite. That bed is hard as a rock. I have to fold up a blanket or two to make a pillow top for the bed in order to sleep in it. I'd take the pull-down bed over that one in a heartbeat.

Does anyone know if a full size crib can fit in a room at Pop Century? We are ordering one from A Baby's Best Friend. Is the table attached to the wall or can it be moved? The Pack 'n Play will be too small for our toddler.

I hope so! We also ordered one from A Baby's Best Friend for our September trip and we are staying in Sports. I'm hoping to put it in front of the window. I thought about moving the table but I believe there is a mirror on the wall right above the table and that I would think is attached to the wall.

I've tried scanning through the thread for the answer to this - but did all of the rooms get renovated at Pop? I'm staying there in October and wonder if I'll get to try out the new rooms.

DisneyDreamer08 I just answered your question about online check-in and you wanting to get connecting rooms. Take a look at my answer, since you're going in September, you might be able to make a change.
In regards to putting a crib by the window, if the air conditioner is there, we don't want it blowing at the baby. If ac vent is up on wall, then putting a crib by the window would work for us. Never thought about that mirror above the table. Thanks for mentioning it.
