The moderate resorts have had queen beds for a few years now. So either your experience at POR was a while ago, or you are mistaken about the bed size.
Not mistaken about the bed size, it was a while ago.. I have not been back to a moderate resort since, so I have no idea what they have now... this was 5 years ago..

We had that same experience at Port Orleans...got there after booking a king room and was given a room with two full beds... We could not fit comfortably on the full bed and had to sleep separately...Next morning I tried to get the King room I had actually booked and they hemmed and hawed about it, and then wanted to charge me an additional $40 per night... I called the Dolphin and got a room there for about $6 cheaper than the king room was going to be, and had an infinitely nicer quality room and experience..And because I am a Starwood Preferred, they upgraded us to a suite.... I have always been surprised that Disney uses full beds at all... no other Hotel chain does....unless maybe you are in Europe.

Just stayed at the Hyatt Regency in Chicago and they indeed have two double beds. And the Dolphin still has double beds.

And now the Swolphin have all those wonderful fees, so the advertised rate isn't what you pay, (25 resort fee per night and parking)

You must have just missed them then, because most moderate resorts had them by 2011. But I'm glad all moderates have them now, for sure!

They have always charged a fee, and it's made pretty clear when you go to make the reservation. Even with the fee, S&D rooms are often cheaper then the other deluxe resorts in the area.

Okay, so I'm reading through all of your posts about Pop and getting a little nervous. We just booked a trip for December and booked our room at Pop Century. We have always stayed at a Moderate resort. Is Pop that bad that I should just spend the extra money and stay at a Moderate? It will be myself, husband, and our 2 daughters going.

We have stayed at 11 resorts on property and honestly, it's a matter of what works for you. We are DVC members and often stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas-a resort with tons of amenities-but we'll save our points sometime and do a few days at a value. We've stayed at POP 3 times and enjoy the over the top theming, food court, pools and have always found the bus service to be as good as anywhere else. (Even at deluxe resorts, bus service has good and bad days). The rooms are quite small, it can be a bit noisy (especially near the Hippie Dippy pool), but we've always found it to clean and comfortable and exactly what we expect from a value resort.

Well, i stayed there in the 90s, and there were no resort fees, apparently i am just that cool. And not saying they aren't cheaper than other deluxe resort, just was making making the point that just because the room was quoted as the same price, doesn't meant that is what you pay, and they do still offer two double beds.

I stand corrected, although they have had the fee for at least the past seven years. Dolphin does double beds, but Swan does queens.

I wouldn't. I've stayed primarily at moderates and Pop and I really like it. I also think your kids will like it with all the giant props (depending on their ages). Only downsides in my view is that it is a bus to everywhere (although the bus service is very good with a dedicated line) and no bar or non-foodcourt options.

Stayed at the Radisson Blu in downtown Minneapolis last month and our room had two doubles. The front desk stated that it was due to accessibility and fire code in relation to room size, and the only other option would be a single king. Westin however seems to have double queens across the brand. Nice to hear Disney is attempting to change out the doubles for queens.

I stayed at Pop a couple weeks ago, in the 60's - still old room decor. I really noticed this stay how badly the rooms need a renovation. The colors are incredibly dated and the carpet looked waaaay past it's prime.
