Pool Hopping on the Monorail

We just booked our first stay at BLT as DVC members and would like to make use of our pool hopping privileges at the Polynesian and Grand Floridian. I don't want to go traipsing from pool-to-pool in a wet suit. Are there changing rooms at each pool? What do you suggest?

You could always take quick clothes with you to put on over the suits as you hop. Like a sundress for girls (toss on over the suit) and just a t-shirt for boys to wear with trunks. This would be after drying yourselves off obviously. :)

Or you could read the fine print of your member benefits list and realize that the pool-hopping privileges only apply to some of the DVC resorts' pools, which means the Poly and GF are not eligible for pool hopping. You're pretty much limited to Boardwalk, Saratoga, Old Key West & Wilderness. You're staying at BLT so it's not an issue (though people staying elsewhere can't poolhop at BLT), and the pools at VAK & BCV are also exempt.

I'd think someone who's been a member of these forums since 2005 would have seen a post or two about pool hopping once or twice, but mine is not to reason why...

I'm not saying if you poolhop, you're going to Hell, I'm not demanding you don't do it and I'm not threatening to rat on you (after all, even in DVC, snitches get stitches  ). I'm just pointing out that being a DVC member does not give you permission to pool hop at the monorail resorts and if for some reason the lifeguards or security at those resorts ask to see some ID that you're staying in those resorts, you're going to look like a total yutz in front of your family when you're asked to leave. Perhaps feel like a yutz as well, I don't know what your tolerance for yutziness is. If you don't mind risking having your vacation colored by that possibility, have fun and don't forget to liberally re-apply sunscreen.

The following is from the DVC perks handbook on the DVC member website:
When staying on your Membership at any Disney Vacation Club Resort at the Walt Disney World Resort or Disney᾽s Vero Beach Resort, you and any Guests staying with you are permitted to use most of the other Disney Vacation Club and Walt Disney World Resort hotel pools (in addition to the pool at the resort hotel at which you are staying) if they are not at capacity. If the pool you are visiting reaches capacity, you may be asked to leave in order to accommodate Guests of that resort hotel. Please check with a host or hostess at the front desk of the resort you wish to visit before you go to find out about pool-access availability. You must present your current Key to the World Card with your "DVC Member" designation on it to use the other resort hotel pools.

Pool hopping is not available at Bay Cove Pool at Bay Lake Tower at Disney᾽s Contemporary Resort, Uzima Pool and Samawati Springs Pool at Disney᾽s Animal Kingdom Lodge, Stormalong Bay at Disney᾽s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts, the leisure pool at Disney᾽s Beach Club Villas, and the pools at Disney᾽s Art of Animation Resort. There are no exceptions to this policy. Resort hotel pools may become unavailable from time to time due to capacity limitations. Due to the high occupancy that is expected, you and any Guests staying with you may not pool hop during the following dates*:

I didn't think that sounded right. Thanks for clarifying.

I have never seen changing rooms, but there are rest rooms both outside and in the loby of both places. For me I would do Poly first and just wrap a towel around me and hop on the monorail from Poly to GF. Then change before heading back to CR. the ride is so short and I hate putting a soaked bathing suite back on.

You should get a real close up view of the new DVC at GF from the pool there closest to it.

Better re-read that fine print. No, Poly and GF are not currently excluded from pool hopping. There are now quite a few exclusions--and if the trend continues the GF pool may be excluded at least by the time the villas open. But at this time both resorts are wide open for DVC member pool hopping.

I wish more people would admit when they've been proven incorrect on these forums so a big round of applause to you for posting that. :D

Well to my credit, it hardly ever happens to me...awwww SNAP!

But seriously, thanks, but let's hope we'll evolve beyond a point where apologies for being wrong merits attention. It's like Chris Rock's bit about certain gentlemen who brag "I take care of my kids!" Aren't we supposed to do that? While I'll generously and greedily take any praise heaped upon me, no one should be applauded for apologizing when they're wrong.

This...something quick and will dry.

The newest Disney must-do for us is pool-hopping.:D We just got back from a stay at SSR, during which we pool-hopped at OKW, Poly, and BWVs without questions or problems. Kids had never been on the Poly's volcano slide... and they said it was the best of the 5 they went on this trip.
