Polynesian info please

We have decided that we are going to stay at the Poly for our vacation this year. We have a 2 and 4 year old so we need a hotel close to MK that we can come back to for a quick nap or some down time. I do have a few questions, if anyone could help out. Where are the best locations, I guess centrally located, within the Poly to try to request? Is it worth spending the extra money on a lagoon view? Normally I don't care about water views but it seems like it might be worth it at the Poly?

We LOVE the poly!!!! If you dont care about a waterview I wouldnt spend the extra money. We always stay with a garden view and last year we had a view of the volcano pool. It was really nice. Poly is a great choice. Its also a great atmosphere for children. Have fun

Sorry for the double post. But if you have the unofficial guide to WDW. They have a map of the poly layout. So you can come up with a couple options then try to request it. As you know ur request arent guaranteed. But in my experience you have a pretty good shot of getting what you request. Hope this helps:wave:

We've stayed at the Poly twice, both times in Tahiti. Some feel Tahiti is too far from the Great Ceremonial House, but we loved the location b/c it's right next to the TTC. Direct monorail access to Epcot and MK is the best! We also used the TTC buses to AK and DHS, b/c they are direct. (the Poly buses will also stop at the Contemporary and GF). Both trips we booked garden view. Got garden view the first trip, and second trip we received a complimentary upgrade to MK view. Whew! It was beautiful. But we also didn't pay for it. :animwink: Despite being spoiled, we've booked garden view for next trip. I can't justify the extra cost for the water view, especially when we're not in the room a lot.

If you want a more central location, Tokelau is a good longhouse to request. You'll have a blast regardless; the Poly is great!

We stayed at the Poly for our honeymoon in Ocober. It was great having the monorail as our main source of transportation!
We did not pay extra for a lagoon view and I am glad we didn't! We spent so little time in the room that we never even really looked outside except for a few minutes in the morning to check out the weather. If you are the type of person to spend all day in the parks and only use the hotel to sleep and shower, don't bother paying extra for a room with a view. With our basic room, we still had beautiful palm trees outside our room which gave the room that Tropical feel!

Absolutely, 100% agree!

I was in Tahiti (at the Poly) earlier this month. A bonus with the Tahiti and Tokelau locations is that you have two double sinks (as opposed to one) and the rooms are 476 sq. ft (larger than the others).

Either longhouse, and you can't go wrong :)

ARGH. I was going to send you to Tikiman's website on the Poly in this post... More Poly info than you can shake a stick at!

But it seems he's having hosting trouble again right now I think. It's not working.

Sorry... :(

Sorry... :(

It's bandwidth problems ... he gets so many hits that the site goes down towards the end of the month. It'll be back up around the 3rd when it resets.

In addition to that, Tokelau, Tahiti, and Rapa Nui (which is right next to the TTC) have balconies on all of the floors. The rest of the longhouses have "fake" balconies on the second floor. I would be pretty bummed if I got a room in an older longhouse that didn't have a balcony.

ohanas is really great and so is the kona cafe definitly try eating there.
The volcano pool is really nice.
The monorail is right at your door so that would be quick to go to the room for a nap but if you are at all of the other parks consider its going to take some time. unless u are going to spend everyday in magic kingdom.

poly is a good choice. water view is awesome. if you care to see it .. spend the money!

Our view from Tahiti

Awesome photos but that one on the right is not a shot from Tahiti.

I love the lagoon view from the Polynesian but if you feel your money is better spent somewhere else you can still get a great view (even some of the lagoon) from a garden view room. Tokelau is my suggestion for its location and that it has rooms towards the beach end that you could see the castle and fireworsk for a garden view price.

Pinkrose and I just stayed there this past March for an Earmarked conference and it was just such a beautiful resort with the newly refurbished rooms. I will be there on the concierge level in Oct. with my family.

Beautiful pics Pumbas!

If you need any help please keep KK in mind.
