Has anybody ever stayed in one of the studios with 4 people? Our next trip will be 4 people, 2 adults and 2 teens. Trying to save money on the next trip and thought this might be a good option.

Poly is our home base. We usually have 5 people who stay in the room. The sofa bed is really uncomfortable. My boys like the air mattress better, so it works. Plus the 2 bathrooms makes showering faster for everyone. Really wish all the studios had the two REAL beds instead of the sofa bed.

On my last trip, we stayed at a Poly studio. We had 4 adults and 1 child. One adult used the pull-down bed. No problems.

Going to be staying at a DVC studio villa at Poly in October. Will be 3 adults and 1 infant (approx 2 months old). It's me, the wife, kid, and grandma who is helping be the babysitter on the trip. For this reason we're going to be giving her th ebed and wife and I will take the pullout sofa. I know pullouts are generally not that great but is it really terrible? Also, are there any special request do you think would be good to try and make, like a specific building to be in or something similiar in regards to having a small infant in tow? It's very awesome that the Poly studios have 2 showers, quite clutch! I'm super pumped for this trip becasue I've al ways wanted to stay at the Poly. Really looking forward to some resort days as well and just chilling by the pool! Any other Poly advice is always welcome (oh and I have visited Trader Sam's many times and am obsessed!!)

May I ask if you're a DVC owner or did you rent points? If you rented, how far out were you able to secure your October stay?
I ask because I'm currently on the list through dvc rental store for a stay in May'19....but no takers yet.

Our family of four used to stay at the Poly in their standard rooms (before DVC) and we all had plenty of space. The last time we were all together there our ages were 51, 47, 22 and 18.

I'm renting thru DVC Rental Store, my 2nd experience with them and everything had been great and no issues. 1st time was in January for a 2-bedroom villa at Animal Kingdom Kidani with my sister and her family.

For my upcoming October stay, I put in the request and booked in the first week of January, so 9 months out. Poly Studio was my first option, and they came back with the thumbs up for my request.

On some WDW podcasts I've heard that hotel bookings may be down this fall, with people looking to save their money for the 2019 season, or even 2020 season in anticipation of Galaxy's Edge. Regardless of the reason, if hotel booking are lower this fall, this may have helped me secure my DVC rental. I'm definitely aware that it can be tough to book DVC rentals at the more popluar resorts especially during Food & Wine and studios. I hope they can come thru with a rental for you!!

I have heard you get great discounts this way, are you ok sharing what you paid per night for the room, was it a significant discount?

Tbh, if you're trying to save money, staying at the poly is going about it the wrong way ;)

In all seriousness, I really have an issue paying a lot of $$ for a room at the poly and needing to sleep on a sleeper sofa.

I had booked the studio for our April 2018 trip, but the more I thought about it, the more I was bothered by it. I was able t upgrade to a different room and I did and while it was more money, I think overall it was a smart move.

If money is tight, or somewhat tight, consider a moderate resort as opposed to a deluxe.

I know you didnt ask me, but we rented for first week of march 2019. Put our request in middle of July, waited a week and a half for someone to take it and book for us. Confirmed reservation on 7/20. That week of waiting was nail biting though!

Thanks for sharing. So it looks like you were able to secure the reservation about 8 months out. I put mine in 11 months out and Tuesday 9/4 will be my 8 month point....I hope I have the same luck as you!

There is definitely big savings to be had by renting DVC points if you want to stay at the deluxe resorts.
My stay is for 8 nights in a studio villa at the Poly (basically a standard hotel room) and the cost came out to $338 per night. Once I had fully secured the DVC reservation I went on Disney's website and looked up the same nights for a stay at a standard Poly room. It showed up as a little over $700 per night. So boom, there you go!

The big thing to remember with renting DVC points is that there is no guarantee you'll get the resort or room type you're looking for, since they need to match you with a DVC owner that has the points to rent and the ability to book at the resort you're interested in. I definitely felt like I lucked out, but if you are flexible with travel dates and resort locations, this is a great way to stay at the deluxe resorts without breaking the bank too much. When you fill out the request form at DVC Rental Store, they have you include 2 travel dates that you're interested in and 4 resorts that you're interested in. Then they come back with what's available (if at all) based on that info.

Something also to consider is that if you wanna travel with extra family or friends, DVC is the only way to really get the larger 1, 2, or 3 bedroom suites. So even though a 2 bedroom villa is obviously going to be more money than a studio, if you fill the room with more people, your price per person goes down.

If you had your heart set on a specific resort for a specific occasion, DVC renting might not be the best option as it not a guarantee, but I'd say it's always worth checking out!

Hope that helps!

Wow! Thats a long time to wait. I would be going crazy. Have you tried a different broker to see if you get different results?

Are you using davids?
DVC Rental Store. I used them a few years ago and had a great experience, so I'm sticking with them this time around.
Plus since DVC rental charges more per point and pays owners out a little more, my chances might be greater through them.

We stayed in a Poly studio (for 2 nights out of a 5-night split stay) on our last WDW trip. Our two kids (aged 10 and 12, both tall for their ages and not agreeable to sharing a bed) took turns with the foldout bed and Murphy bed; DH and I took the "big" bed.

We loved the studio! There was more space, and more storage, than we knew what to do with, and the room is wide enough that even with every sleeping space folded out, there is sufficient space to move around without bumping into the furniture. (This was a welcome change from the much-smaller Beach Club studio where we spent our first three nights, which was a congested, poorly-designed nightmare, where if you folded down the sleeping spaces, there was no way to get from one end of the room to the other, nowhere to put the coffee table or sofa cushions, and no way to access any of the drawers or other in-room storage -- I'd never stay in a Beach Club studio with a party larger than 2 again!).

Both kids said the sofa and Murphy beds at the Poly were comfortable. Of all the DVC studios at WDW, the Polynesian ones are the largest and certainly the best-suited for 4, given the extra bathroom and extra-large balcony/patio spaces. So long as the cost isn't a sacrifice for you, I whole-heartedly recommend the Poly studios (and thanks to our DVC rental, via David's, we saved something like 30-40% off of rack rate for the same room).

FWIW, we actually put in reservation requests with both David's and the DVC Rental Store, but David's was able to come through first -- about a week after our 11-month mark -- so we went with them and canceled with DVC Rental Store request. I've heard nothing but good things about both outfits, however...

That's actually a great idea, checking with both David's and DVC Rental Store! Definietly ups your chances of securing a reservation at a resort you'd most like to stay at! I'll keep this tip in my back pocket for sure for future bookings!

Also, good to hear about the space in the Poly studios. Do you by chance know if all Poly DVC studios have balconies/patios, or is it just some? My mother-in-law, who is coming along to be the babysitter loves her a good balcony/outdoor space, and I feel like I read that only some Poly rooms have balconies, though that might just be the regular hotel rooms, not sure.
