I agreeI'm voting more attractions, but in all honesty I am happy with things just as they are.

But what does Frontierland have to do with Tomorrowland? Nothing.
I can't see Disney Studios ever getting a DisneySea section because Studios and Seas are vastly different. Future World and World Showcase are unified because they both deal with mankind's achievements, whether geographically or technologically. Studios and Seas have nothing really in common.
I'd rather see Disney take the Seas concept in a new direction and give Florida a DisneySea-style park without making an exact replica of it, or sticking half of it somewhere random.
I'm voting for new attractions. I think Disney-MGM Studios and Animal Kingdom need the most help, but I'd also like to see World Showcase get a few more attractions (and they don't need to be thrill machines).

Mankinds achievements??? okay??? They both start w/the letter S. That's just as powerful a link as mankinds achievements. I'm baffled again. Does that mean that the entire entertainment industry at the stuidos isn't a mankind achievement? How is wonders of life a mankind achievement? How is Canadians drinking beer an achievement? Dual park theme isn't a bad thing. MK gets by with a few more themes than that. Don't flame me for saying Six Flags, but Six Flags was originally supposed to be themed for the Six Flags over Texas. Now they have Gotham. And it rocks. It wouldn't kill. Why build a resort that makes you feel like you are in the Sierra Mountians in the Wilderness Lodge? It doesn't fit the theme of Florida. Just an Idea to build a current park and take it to a next step.
It still bugs me that people call Animal Kingdom and MGM 1/2 day parks. I guess everyone just goes, rides a couple of rides and leaves. That's not what Disney Parks are about!!!! Take your time and stroll through the parks, go through the trails, Look in the shops, take the train to Rafiki's Planet Watch and enjoy the animals, the petting zoo, the nursury and the operating room. Sit down and enjoy the view, it's really awesome. Everyone is always in a rush!!! In MGM, enjoy all the shows, take the time to go to All the shows, the rides, the back stage tours it's wonderful. Anyway, sorry for ranting, I agree that a 5th park is not necessary. I would much rather they expand on what they have. We don't really need a 5th park at all, what they have is great!!! We would all love to see expansion, but do it inside what we have already. We can spend 12 nights there and still not do everything we would like to do. We go every year (it's what makes working bearable) and we can't get enough.
I don't beleive DIsney will be able to support a 5th park now or in the forseeable future. As someone else said, they are having a difficult time staffing the parks they have now. A new park would literally require thousands of addtional employees who are both skilled and non-skilled which is something difficult to find in this employment market.
Also, one only needs to look at the themepark industry itself to see why adding a park now may not be in one's best financial interest. When you look nationally, all of the major Theme Park companies have reported flat or declining attendance. That is pretty unusual given the high price of gasoline and other factors. Normally, the local parks owned by the likes of Six Flags and Cedar Fair would see an increase in attendance as people choose to drive less and forgo costly vacation travel.
Looking at the local parks here in Orlando, the situation is much the same. SeaWorld is flat in attendance and Universal is down. I don't beleive any one knows what is going on with Cypress Gardens. My intuition tells me that while they did well initially after the take over, they haven't done so well as of late.
Disney's expansion plans are no longer focused on the US market. I saw a blurb in the news the other day that China has developed a plan and timeline to build a Disney Park. Could India be next? These are both places where income and especially disposable income are on the upswing.
Material and labor costs have skyrocketed so much in the US that building a park in central florida is a very costly matter. Because of the high prices, the return on investment would probalby take place over a much longer time than what the shareholders would like to see. This in turn means that the park doesn't get new additons as quickly after it opens creating another ANimal Kingdom like situation.
Finally, I believe and park must offer a product that meets the modern family's expectations. After years of building bigger, higher, faster, it would seem that Americans are getting bored with it. A relevant park today is much the same as Disneyland in the 50's. A place where children and adults can enjoy the entertainment together.
Seeing as how Epcot is a 2 land park, couldn't they do the same thing w/Disney Studios. Could they revamp the entire theme to Disney Studios and Seas? I know I will NEVER go to Japan and visit DisneySeas. Could they scrap the backlot and rebuild a second half to the park. Import some of the better parts of DisneySeas? I don't think we actualy have any of the attractions here. I may be wrong, so don't flame. But at least bring in a scaled back DisneySeas. Maybe Mermaidland and aother 1 or two of the lands. I know it doesn't "traditionally" fit. But what does World Showcase "really" have to do with Future World? This could topple Epcot and challenge MK for top park. It wouldn't be a full fledged 5th gate, just adding to a park already there.
I like this idea, however, I think a Disney Seas clone (or parts of DS) would go better in AK, perhaps instead of a new land. This could allow for both land and sea animals and essentially be a combination of a zoo and aquarium (and attractions of course).
What will the new slogan be?
Its Nahtazuquarium
I agree, there was a post in another thread recently that said something like if we didn't go to the parks so much we wouldn't think that any of the parks NEEDED anything. On our last big family trip we were talking to a family in line at Animal Kingdom who was spending 2 weeks in Orlando, and they were on their 2nd day of Animal Kingdom. It still bugs me that people call Animal Kingdom and MGM 1/2 day parks.
