PoC changes since the 80's?

I just visited with my nana who went to WDW in the early 80's
(this was my first trip to WDW ever.) We were "comparing notes" on rides and her version of PoC sounded different than what I saw. I could give many examples of differences, but for one, I'm sure I saw the woman chasing the pirate through a revolving door - she said that it was the other way around.

Is my nana crazy? Am I crazy? Or have they made some changes to PoC since it opened?

That sounds familiar. There was (sadly) a politically correct overhaul of POTC. Instead of men chasing women, they were reversed. There were some other details too I can`t recall regarding a broomstick and a chicken - but NOT in the same scene... LOL!!

I think that 1 pirate chases a woman but the rest are opposite

The "pooped pirate" once held a slip from a woman hiding (naked) in the barrel behind him.

Since the PC treatment, he's held a magnifying glass and map (currently) or turkey leg (at least in Disneyland) with a fully dressed girl in the barrel.

In the 80s, all of the women were chased by pirates, except for the "plump" one, who chased the pirate with a broom.

I also remember the petticoat/barrel scene.

Yes, I believe they changed it cause many people complained that it was discrimination towards women. I didnt know that there used to be a naked girl in the barrel...YIKES!

Eh, there was a similar woman in Horizons in a bathtub.

yes sadly...

Here at Disneyland, they've even become less violent. I was on the ride the other day and they really dimmed the projected (which was new a while back) fight seen so its just hardly noticeable.

In PoC DLR there originally was a woman (who was rather plump IMHO) who chased a scrawny pirate...I think now she has a rolling pin in her hand and he has food in his (originally, I guess the woman wanted something else!)

And there once was a pirate who held up a pink nighty. Man, the good ol' days.

Word from a Pirate

Here is a list of what I know for sure has changed, since I currently am a CM there:

1. In the chase scene, all women chase the pirates now instead of the other way around. All the pirates now are carrying food or treasure.

2. Also in the chase scene, the winded pirate now talks about finding treasure when he used to talk about "sharing a little cute treasure with all of us" because he was in reference to the naked girl behind him.

3. In the Burning City, the pirate with his leg dangling over the edge, his audio was turned down because people complained that he was "too drunk" for the ride.

4. We got rid of our mysterious "second drop" :lol:

5. Show construction wise, we added air gates for guests safety. As well as we eliminated a two channel loading system. We only load of one channel now. You can still see the original channel because their is a boat just floating there.

Do you know of any photos in existance of the return lift for the boats (ie after unload, as they make their way back to loading?)
