Pleasure Island Becoming KID Friendly NOOOOOOOOO!

I think most of you, if not all of you, are missing one huge point... Disney is going back to real story-telling and themeing! Please go back and watch Pinocchio. Pleasure Island is a place for KIDS to have fun, get drunk, and turn into jackasses... so.. that's what Disney is doing! No harm, just good story telling, and bringing the movies to life!

I mean, I love the fact that now you won't have to go all the way around Pleasure Island just to explore Downtown Disney, as a matter of fact, I'm grateful..After a long day of Park-Hopping, the last thing I want to do is feel like I have to take a detour when my feet are aching
Quoted for truth.

Pluses and Minuses:

PLUS -- Parents can now take their whiney kids to Pleasure Island
MINUS -- Whiney kids on Pleasure Island

PLUS -- Less alcoholic debouchery
MINUS -- Less alcoholic debouchery

PLUS -- Cleaner, more brightly lit Pleasure Island
MINUS -- Drunks more visible

PLUS -- shorter walk from Marketplace to West Side
MINUS -- Wow! Actually there IS no minus on this one

PLUS -- Disney makes more money on family friendly attractions
MINUS -- Disney loses money from adults with no kids

PLUS -- More things to do at Pleasure Island to keep the kids busy
MINUS -- Less things to do for adults that want to get away from the kids for awhile

PLUS -- More options for families at night
MINUS -- More non-kid adults will head to Orlando clubs and spend money elsewhere other than Disney

I have no strong feelings one way or the other -- I'll still go down there to have fun and a good time -- not one to drink it doesn't bother me that they are cleaning some of that mess down there up -- on the other hand, I'll miss having a (mostly) kidfree place to go for a few hours at night.

It has been a shame to see what PI has become over the past few years. Used to have annual passes for it for a while and only went to Adventurers Club and Comedy Warehouse. Just as the CityWalk clubs are 21+ after 9/10pm as should PI. Keep it adult and those of age can go somewhere and enjoy drinking/dancing on property and not have to drive to CityWalk or god awful downtown orlando.

I laughed so hard at that....Sad, but true. My last visit there I was trying my best to ignore all the people who were so drunk they couldn't stand straight, and in the darkness, it worked. Now I'll have to stare at people being complete fools, and most likely, not in an amusing way.

Now no matter how much you drink, beer goggles just won't cut it anymore due to such bright lighting! Plus, now instead of the drunk people :hurl: on the street, now they'll just :hurl: in the garbage can since the streets will be well lit!

I was told in another thread that you'll still have to pay to get into the clubs...Could someone just re-confirm if that's true?

Sincerely,

Yes, you'll still have to pay to actually get into a club. Not that long ago, you had to pay just to get into the area.

My first visit to PI was in 2001, as that was my first visit without children. The Daughter was almost 19 at the time, and she, I, and a few wdwmagic forum members went out for the evening.

After visiting the Adventurer's Club, I decided that it was appropriate for The Son, so he made his first visit at age 11 or so and really enjoyed it. He had already watched Comedy Central, etc. so he was able to appreciate (most of) the humor. Would I think it was appropriate when he was younger? No way. Was he able to spend time with "adults" when he was almost 12 (in 2004)without spoiling the fun? I think so, but The Dad took him back to the resort at 10:30 so I could "party" with the rest of my wdwmagic kids. ;)

Thank God. I did NOT like the crowd that Pleasure Island brought about. If you want to go to a club, go somewhere else. Disney shouldn't be the place.

What exactly is it that you won't be enjoying next year? The newly refurbished streets of PI, or the great clubs inside?

:veryconfu

I dunno, I thought you had to be 18 to buy tickets lol whatever.
